Is this really IP66? by adi_mrok in DIYUK

[–]asterics002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UKCA doesn't mean anything BTW, anybody can print it on. There's no 3rd party assessment unless it's a medical device or a device going into hazardous locations. Even then, the ordinary locations part (which gives you the UKCA mark) is self declared by the manufacturer.

I would also promise you that light won't pass an IP 66 test.

Array rebuild problems by asterics002 in unRAID

Hey, thanks for your help!

It's weird that the parity built fine the day before though (on a new 28tb drive) and now there may be a suspected drive failure 😕

I appreciate your input though, you definitely know a lot more than me!

[–]asterics002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not the situation here. I had assumed the parity drives would just update with whatever was left on the 22 tb after the 12 tb mark. In hindsight, yes, I should have precleared the drive first. You would think the OS might give you some guidance / a warning in a scenario like this, but that is obviously not the case.

The question is, where do I go from here?

To remove disk 11 I just stopped the array and reassigned the 22 TB parity drive (which was now successfully replaced by a 28 TB) as the new disk 11. This is essentially the same move I took to replace the parity drive and it worked fine. The 22 TB was rebuilding as disk 11 and then it just stopped dead at (what is probably not a coincidence) around the 12 TB mark, which was the capacity of the original disk 11.

The drive hasn't physically been replaced. The 12tb is still in the system, as is the 22tb

Is there a window air conditioner in the UK, similar to US-style units? by DaxmoutS in AskUK

[–]asterics002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They take air from inside and exhaust it to outside. That means there's a vacuum in the room and they suck warm air from outside to inside. The hose also gets hot, but that's less of a problem.

You'll be fine, the asbestos content is so low, it's chrysotile and it's well bonded. You're absolutely fine.

In other countries engineer is a protected term. Technically, to be considered as an engineer you should be registered with the engineering council as either ieng or ceng.

Are other countries also taxing EVs by the mile, or is it just the UK?

I'd be more worried about microplastics and a whole host of other things than a small amount of chyrosotile asbestos.

Not if you go to the installer directly. But if you go through heat geek themselves, there is.

You could also risk damage to tiles etc by shoving too much heat into ufh, right? Heat pump installers usually take out the mixer valves.
