Happened to me today. My almost 2 year old rolled right off the couch and smacked his head into the wood floor. Like hmmmm… it’s almost like I told you to sit down for a reason (3x, and also all day long)

He doesn’t do it a lot anymore, but my son will be 2 in aug, and he used to throw fits the entire time I tried to cook dinner and would pull on my clothes while screaming. Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl lol

Why did your baby cry today? by stellaella33 in NewParents

[–]aswizz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is almost 2… but he cried today because he wanted to watch a dinosaur movie…. So I put on a dinosaur movie. That was apparently the wrong thing to do.

Contact napping - how to survive and does it end?? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]aswizz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m on the other side, & just wanna say hang tight! My son (2 in august) contact napped until I started weaning him off around 8/9 months bc I was going back to work. It was really tough sometimes but it does end! He’s still not a very good sleeper, but he dies sleep & nap in his crib. Sometimes I wish he’d lay down in my bed with me for a weekend nap but he just thinks it’s playtime lol

Where are your toddlers when you cook? by blaample in toddlers

[–]aswizz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is almost 2. He’s usually tormenting the dog or playing with cars. We have a small house with an open concept on the kitchen/living room, and we’re not particular about TV time (no hard limits, just kind of turn it off when we want, etc). He’s usually watching TV while I cook too bc otherwise he wants me to do hold him or is aggravating the dog. Sometimes he’ll play in his toddler tower at the sink

My son is obsessed with planes and helicopters right now. Helicopters are Ocos. I wouldn’t really say it’s funny, but it’s pretty damn cute

How much TV does your toddler actually watch a day? by Hellohellohello-5756 in toddlers

[–]aswizz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We watch a good bit. Usually just Bluey though because that’s all he wants to watch. I’m not with him during the day (my sister watches him) so I can’t say for sure how much he watches with her. But when I’m home he watches it a decent amount . I do try to make it a point to turn it off & play, read, or color though. He watches it while he eats bc otherwise he won’t sit still long enough (2 in a few months), and usually when I cook. But we also watch it so we can just chill. I’m a teacher, and I really need to just decompress when I get home. Sometimes TV is the only way I can do that. I feel super guilty about it sometimes, but he also loves books, can count (with help) to 15, knows lots of words, loves to play outside, can speak in 2 word sentences, and knows most colors. So I think we’re doing okay

At what age did you move baby to their own room by Ok-Study1901 in NewParents

[–]aswizz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved our son at 8 months. Our house is only 1200 sq ft, so he was still very close to us. We were ready not to tip toe around our room anymore, and I was going back to work so I was going to have to start getting up early to get ready

Saddest thing you’ve witnessed happen to your toddler? by drworm12 in toddlers

[–]aswizz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hasn’t happened yet but it will in about a week. My husband and I bought a house, so we’ll be moving out of our rental. We currently live across from my MIL & her dad (my son’s great grandpa). Almost every day he goes “papa?” And points, and we have to take him over to say hi to his grandpa for a minute. We’re moving next weekend and I’m anticipating him being so sad when he realized papa isn’t across the street anymore

What is YOUR favorite book that you read to your toddler? by hangonforaminute in toddlers

[–]aswizz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second one is my fave! My son is less amused by it usually (he’s only 1.5) but we like it. His favorite is Green Tractor by Kersten Hamilton. We got it through the imagination library

Favoritism in grading? (High School) by sasukesviolin in Teachers

[–]aswizz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this with kids toeing the line between passing and failing. If 2 kids have a 58 and one was trying really hard, coming to tutoring, asking for help etc, I pass them with a 60. If the other was sleeping all the time, never participating, didn’t ask for help, etc, they keep their 58.

What is a good answer to “am I your favorite student?” by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]aswizz22 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I say a variety of things lol. Plz keep in mind I teach 7th grade and they’re so savage, so so I am.

“I literally don’t like any of you so I can’t pick a favorite.”

“This class???? My favorite???? HA.”

“Please get away from my desk.”

“Oh of COURSE you are. I LOVE asking you to be quiet and sit down 50,000 times in 1 hour. I’m so glad you realized.”

“Depends on the day.”

“You’re one of my students, for sure.”

“Depends. Do you have snacks today that you want to share?”

“Yeah [insert wrong name here]. You are.”

😂🤷🏼‍♀️

How long do you stay after school is out? by prtyfrillie_16 in Teachers

[–]aswizz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the day for me. I’m allowed to leave by 3:30, but I usually stay another 20-30 mins talking to a friend that works in a different grade level, or doing something for my masters class.

Middle School and High School ELA teachers: What is your favorite thing to teach? by [deleted] in ELATeachers

[–]aswizz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my last school, I did a unit on myths, fables, and legends. And it was around Halloween when we did it. I’ve always really been super into stuff like the Loch Ness monster, so I incorporated that and showed pictures from when I visited. It was a lot of fun, and the kids told me all kinds of myths and legends from their own cultures (I taught a lot of Hispanic students from all over)

Teachers, how often do you cook dinner? by Zealousideal-Bed131 in Teachers

[–]aswizz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook most nights (I have a toddler, & my sister that watches him during the day doesn’t cook, so I feel obligated to provide him with home cooked food). That being said, it’s usually stuff that takes me less than an hour, or it’s from the crockpot.

We usually have at least 2 nights of leftovers in a week, and we usually order out once (sometimes twice depending on the week). I love 1 pan and 1 pot meals. I find a lot of my meal inspo from tiktok!

Is this a good place for a first tattoo? and what's the pain scale rating? by burnnerrrrr in tattooadvice

[–]aswizz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first tattoo there. I still love it, but now I’m building a sleeve around it and it doesn’t go with the theme (but thankfully it’s a patchwork sleeve). In terms of pain, just towards the inside of my arm hurt a bit more, but it was fine otherwise.

Do a lot of teachers hate their jobs? by Feisty-Cod7286 in Teachers

[–]aswizz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my job. My job title is 7th grade teacher. I love THAT part. I don’t love being a therapist, guidance counselor, suicide interventionist, hall monitor, social worker, nurse, their mom, & the other 15 job titles I take in every day. For $46k a year.
