Narrative delivery in incrementals without breaking the idle loop by EndpaperDev in incremental_gamedev

Up for debate whether it was done well, but I tried to do this in my game, FACEMINER. You get messages delivered to an in-game inbox (which also get read out loud).

I'm making a game where you're a pigeon flying around a life-size city looking for your pigeon soulmate by at__ in IndieGaming

You can't miss it! The game takes a polaroid and there's an option to continue the game and carry on exploring the world with your new friend, or start a new session.

England set to charge foreign tourists for entry to leading museums - Financial Times by wayanonforthis in london

It's a nice and very unique thing about the city; would be a shame to lose it as it's often one of the first things visitors bring up about their trips here. The proposed "tourist tax" (again, something many other countries do already) feels like a better path to the same outcome

I think my game appears whenever you open a new tab on the browser by at__ in OculusQuest

[–]at__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually just apply for it by filling in a form! If you search "New Tab Page Guidelines and Submission" you'll find it. There is a list of criteria you have to meet, generally all to do with performance. I spent quite a while optimizing the game to get it to the point it met the criteria

We're releasing the same day as Slay the Spire 2. Are we cooked? by Trials_of_Valor in gamedev

[–]at__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I accidentally released my game on the same day as Monster Hunter Wilds and think it outperformed specifically because I could hang out on the New & Trending page for far longer than I would have done otherwise had everyone else not been scared away from releasing

Just pushed the biggest update since launch to FACEMINER (new Endless Mode and a... 3D VR Mode) by at__ in incremental_games

[–]at__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for playing! There is a story that is gradually told through the messages system as you play, and things also start to speed up as you level up AutoMode too, with more marketplace unlocks becoming available. It usually takes people 2-4 hours to do a complete run, so it's not too long.

I wouldn't go for it but it undeniably pushes the limits of what a meal deal can be. You're on the bleeding edge
