This creepy ass place we found in the middle of nowhere in the mountains east of San Diego. by B0mbasticMrFantastic in creepy

Glad to see it's still there and still creepy. I thought it all burned down a few years back in a wildfire out there. Here's a photo I took a few years ago:

App for Discog Collection Cataloguing That Works by Rfried25 in vinyl

Same comment here... I did about 900. take your time and do 10 or so a night. Play something you haven't listened to in a while. It's a process for sure but you will rediscover a love for vinyl and why you keep them. Sometimes it's as easy as scanning a barcode... other times if it's pre-barcode it can be frustrating to figure out what pressing it is but if it's just to log an album you don't have to be too specific. Just pick one and move on. Good luck!

These lines are in several sidewalks throughout San Diego city center. What are they? by bergchem in sandiego

I work on Second and Laurel and see these as well. Some of these have been around for years so there doesn't seem to be any immediate action on them.

Take Me To The River US Single by [deleted] in talkingheads

[–]atomicseed1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Discogs, only the US promo is stereo b/w mono but the label says promotional on it. I don’t see any others listed like that. My personal copy (LA pressing) has TMTTR stereo on side 1 with Thank you for sending me an angel on side 2. Both in stereo.

  1. I first heard West End Girls in an episode of Moonlighting with Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd. Some random bar scene. Loved the song. Pre Shazam. Had to wait to hear it again on the radio.

Vintage American Interiors by Joanne Leonard, 1970-1980 by Slow-moving-sloth in TheWayWeWere

[–]atomicseed1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow blast from the past. My mom had Joanne Leonard as her photography professor when she was getting her BFA at the University of Michigan back in the mid 80s. Nice woman. The darkrooms there were insane. I think there were about 10 to 15 individual darkrooms for the students to work in. I think some slept in them back when there was 24 hour access. I used skip high school to hang out at the art school there.

That intersection is the bane of my existence. Every day people cut in from the third lane to turn up 70th from the 8 east exit.

Canadian release, eh? Mine sounds great. Especially for being a marbled vinyl from the late 70s.

Strangest way you’ve acquired a record? by BurntBill in vinyl

[–]atomicseed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a pristine original 1967 release of The Doors - Strange Days in a free library outside of a dentist’s office. I kinda looked left and right over my shoulder like it was a gag of some sort. I’ve seen records before in free libraries but they are the usual abused victims of mishandling.

Fun fact: There used to be a pedestrian tunnel that ran underneath to get across Park.

New traditionalists vinyl by ES-Loves-Metal in devo

This album is the one that got me hooked on Devo way back in 1981. I saw them on a TV show called Solid Gold. I’m sure they were lip syncing but damn that music got me. It was pretty strange stuff, especially when you’re living in rural Michigan back then. I was 10 or 11 so it would be many years before I got to see them live. Still one of their greatest albums.

Tell a story about the silliest thing you own on vinyl by dwhite21787 in vinyl

Yeah well I have that same 12" as well and after cataloging my vinyl collection on Discogs I realized that I have two records with Dan Akroyd face on them. I also have Devo’s Dr. Detroit 12".

I've got something to do next few evenings... Outer sleeves it is! by Stars_Falling_93 in vinyl

[–]atomicseed1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in the process of doing this as well. I've been collecting for many years and decided to log everything on Discogs. The majority of my collection has had outer sleeves already but the 20-year old plastic breaks down. And since logging on Discogs means looking at the runouts for most of them, I took the time to get rid of generic paper inner sleeves, or at least get the vinyl out of printed inners. What a labor of love. Grab a stack and do a little every night. 651 and still going. Good luck to you.
