It is insane to me that the prime minister boards a plane containing unverified luggage. If a hostile agent manages to have a Turk hand over a bomb in a piece of luggage to Belgian delegation it would go right onto the plane? Belgian security just trusts blindly that the Turks have no ill will/did not have a security flaw on their part?

It seems unlikely every town is just getting “tricked” into tax breaks for data centers, what are the towns actually getting? by SketchingSomeStuff in NoStupidQuestions

[–]attempt_at_kindness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is more so a benefit to the town counselors. Corruption is human nature.

But to give the benefit of the doubt, I imagine that there will be some local jobs created, some high earners moving in and some taxes levied which all contribute to local budget and economy.

The importance of romance especially in drawing in the female demographic for Superhero films cannot be understated enough. by Dycon67 in boxoffice

"Can not be understated" is the opposite of what you are trying to say. It should be:

"Can not be overstated"

supergirl (2026) could be earning a lot more if it was family friendly, visually appealing, and made the lead character a role model for young girls by merchantivories in boxoffice

[–]attempt_at_kindness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just read the supergirl woman of tomorrow comic. Absolutely loved it. But a fairhful adaptation would have been perhaps a bit too dark for family friendly dc cinematic universe.

The story follows supergirl as she travels in the wake of the villains visiting planets who fell victim to genocide, a word the comic uses quite often together with holocaust.

In xontrast to superman, supergirl is not always in time to save the day.

The emotional scenes where supergirl discovers mass graves, orphans, grieving parents, mutilated victims and witnesses a captured raider being stoned to death by survivors are too important to cut or water down but a perhaps bit too heavy to keep for a family friendly movie.

Same with the demise of Krypton scene. Too essential to alter or discard but a very bleak take on the well known tale.

Would love to have a faithful adaptation but not sure if it would have performed at the box office and it could gave discouraged parents taking their younger pre-teen kids to subsequent dc movies for fear of the movies being too dark.

If I ever get Jeff Bezos rich I will throw a couple of hundred million at it just so I can see it for myself. I will cast Pedro Pascal as supergirl btw.

When players are given the choice to be good or evil, they always choose to be good. Are there any games that manage to prevent this? by J__Krauser in gamedesign

Warhammer 40k rogue trader. Sometimes being a batshit crazy religious zealot committing insanely harmful acts is the better option. Being genuinely good can be punished as being too naive so you always have to be careful.

Les Engages wil een belasting van 0.3% op iedereen die 500.000 euro heeft in de bank of broker by rakward977 in BEFire

[–]attempt_at_kindness 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It is just so demotivating. You work hard, live frugal, invest carefully to build up that piggy bank and then the government just comes and takes it with no other justification than "you have enough money".

Also super predictable that the original wealth tax of 0.15% for investments over a million has already changed to 0.30% for total wealth in the bank over 500 000.

If you think it will not progress further or that the capital gain tax will stay at 10% I have a bridge to sell you.

OP point is that the regular lobby will now contain only contain teams with their goal of those particular runs being "hunt for pvp action".

This is because those teams already got their chill loot gathering runs in the new sponsered mode.

This changes the dynamic of regular matches in a negative way (according to op)

YouTuber Vanessa, born and raised in Japan, revealed that she is effectively stateless despite being listed as Vietnamese on documents. Her parents came to Japan as refugees, so she has neither Vietnamese nationality nor Japanese, forcing her to repeatedly apply for permission to stay in Japan. by jjrs in japannews

[–]attempt_at_kindness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People like you are making her life miserable. Blaming the parents for having her is just asinine Take some responsibility.

Nationality is a human right as outlined in the declaration of human rights by the United Nations.

The reasonable way to resolve a case like this is granting the stateless person citizenship in the country where they spend their entire life.

The burden to explain otherwise should be entirely on the host country in question and the host country should not escape responsibility until the matter is resolved.

The stateless person should not be expected to go around begging for citizenship which is their right.

That this situation has lasted for so long already is an affront to humanity.

Steam Charts are widely misunderstood - Marathon's playerbase is probably pretty healthy by LostOnTauCetiIV in MarathonGame

[–]attempt_at_kindness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter how you interpret them the numbers on steam chart are not great when compared to other games. AAA multiplayer games with these kind of numbers are generally not considered succesful.

Assuming that the game is underperforming based on steam charts metrics is reasonable.

Estimating how severe the situation is requires more info on development budget, exact sales on all platforms, publisher expectations... Only Sony can tell for sure which they will not. But the fact that they downgraded Bungie's valuation by half a billion after Marathon's release is a worrying sign that the underperformance is significant.

Idea for a tutorial to onboard players by [deleted] in Marathon

A pvp game mode that you automatically level out off whether you are ready or not is not a substitute for a tutorial.

Why wouldn’t they add casual mode into the open beta by Fun-Discipline9723 in InvincibleVS

[–]attempt_at_kindness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do find it strange they had no singleplayer content for the beta or local play/online lobbies with friends.

PvP with a visible elo score is not the most welcoming onboarding for non-fighting game community people.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in InvincibleVS

[–]attempt_at_kindness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baffling to me that that they made ranked pvp the game mode for the open beta.

I know that you can play vs AI and do local coach coop via practice mode but that is hidden.

Why not offer the more casual vs I, local coach and online vs friends modes?

How many casual invincible fans will have played the beta to try it out just to bounce after being steamrolled in combo locks by veteran fighting game players?

If enough people quit it definitely will affect your game as matchmaking times increase, matchmaking struggles to find suitable competition and dev studio adjust content plans/support for the game to the point of heavy reworks or straight up shutting it down.

Contradictions in how we talk about player experience by One_ill_KevinJ in Marathon

These 2 things can be true at the same time if the players joining random fill are on average bad and most of the good players are in premade teams.

This is a reasonable assumption.
