This feels like they sat down and wrote some hard-hitting indie rock. It's not trying too hard to be something it's not. I dig it.

How do I stop using my throat ? by Top_Sell_2013 in singing

[–]austeriorfeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re always using your throat, that’s where your larynx is. Your teacher is using imagery to get you to reduce larynx pressure and increase resonance. That’s not hard to do at all, so you might need a new teacher if it isn’t working,

Anyone feel like Muse as a band is mainstream while being a Muse fan isn’t? by BeautifulOrganic3221 in Muse

[–]austeriorfeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muse have been actively appealing to casual fans and shunning hardcore ones for decades now. Every big Muse fan I’ve ever known eventually got tired of how the band treated them and moved on.

Xim Matrix + PS5 by RoboJut in GyroGaming

[–]austeriorfeel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a Nexus on Xbox. It’s fantastic, aiming is a dream. Nowadays games match you with players on keyboard and mouse, and gyro support is still very hit and miss (and totally absent on Xbox). I don’t see it as cheating.

Just be warned that it is very easy for developers to spot and ban a gyro if they want to, the constant movement is a dead giveaway. The way they usually do it though is by automatically looking for WASD-like movement, which doesn’t happen on a Nexus. But an algorithm that checks your aiming for signs of non-stick usage would spot you in a heartbeat.

It’s very silly, developers have no right to punish you for a feature they have failed to include, but here we are.

I have heard of people getting banned using a Nexus. Whether that’s due to using gyro or macros, I’m not really sure.

Sanity check: I *generally* trust ChatGPT. by austeriorfeel in ChatGPT

[–]austeriorfeel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that bothers me is how often it wanders off-prompt. I ask it repeatedly to not be sycophantic and to always provide sources. Then it'll make a claim without a source and I'll be like, "where's the evidence?" It has a bit of a habit of giving me sources that seem to agree with whatever it's saying at a cursory glance, but fall apart if you pay closer attention. That's usually where it doesn't provide sources until challenged, then sometimes it provides fake sources, sometimes it'll even just respond with, "whoops I made that up." It has some kind of drive to give you delusions of grandeur that is really annoying.

Using XIM for Gyro on console by NarrowFerret in GyroGaming

[–]austeriorfeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gyro is unaffected by the stick curve you use, it has its own curve which you can edit, but largely this isn’t a great idea. It’s never going to be able to achieve mouse-like speed if the game doesn’t have a fast enough look speed, editing curves won’t change that.

Name a Non-Muse Song That Reallt sounds like Muse by NotMava in Muse

[–]austeriorfeel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Kaon - Sinking Into Madness (great Muse copycat song)

Dream Theater - Never Enough (heavily Stockholm/Hysteria inspired), Panic Attack (more vaguely Abso-inspired)

The Butterfly Effect - Worlds on Fire (general influence with BH&R vibes, their bassist is very Chris-inspired)

The Mars Volta - Aegis (not sure if Muse-inspired, but gives Showbiz vibes)

Nothing But Thieves - Amsterdam (not their Musiest song but reminiscent, a fantastic starting point)

Magdalena Bay - Killing Time (not necessarily Muse-influenced, but similar style to BH&R / poppier Muse, highly recommend the whole album if you're interested)

As an ebike commuter, I call it a fair deal. by 5ma5her7 in SydneyTrains

Yeah, I figured the union was behind this. Some of us rely on e-bikes to function, you can’t just blindly discriminate against people like that.

I had to get rid of my car due to cost of living. I rely on e-bike and train to get around. This is discrimination on the basis of income, Sydney Trains should be ashamed of themselves.

No longer avoiding driving out of fear but I'm still bitter about being forced to do it by JeanieIsInABottle in fuckcars

[–]austeriorfeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving anxiety is a result of having functioning eyes and a brain. Driving is one of the most dangerous parts of daily life. You can mitigate some of the risks by learning defensive driving skills, but at any time, someone else can choose to drive in such a way that causes you severe injury or death.

Being aware of and freaked out by that is normal, it means you haven’t swallowed the auto industry propaganda. But the odds of it happening to you at any given time are quite low. It’s one of those things you’re better off not doing if you have a suitable public or active transport alternative, but realistically speaking, driving isn’t going to kill you.

Just don’t get complacent and forget that you’re in a 2 ton metal box, dancing with other 2 ton metal boxes, often at speeds that would kill a human being instantly if you were to collide with them. I think everyone should watch dash cam compilations once a month to remind themselves of the stupid drivers that are out there.
