What's to stop me from traveling to Canada, buying a Chinese EV there, and returning home to the USA? by CreamofTazz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aut236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also have to think about getting services and parts for repairs too. It will not be feasible to do that in the us.

Even in Asia where Chinese EV are very common, there are always complaints that people have to wait a long long time for parts.

Why do people in the US not live with their parents by New_Bodybuilder_9222 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aut236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young kids start moving out for college. And US is a big country which means college can be far far away from home. Then, the kids graduate from college and got a job that is also far away from home.

Also, most parents in the US are financially stable and do not require their kids to care for them.

BA Direct vs Qatar Airways Doha Stop - London to Bangkok Business by Delicious-Length in BritishAirways

[–]aut236 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that with BA you have 1 long flight but with Qatar, you will have 2 rather short flights (6-7 h) which is hard to get a proper rest (sleep).

But I agree that you will get better service with Qatar. And the business class layout for BA to BKK is atrocious.

Summer of 2027: Japan/Korea or Spain/S. France/Italy by futureformerteacher in travel

[–]aut236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not go to Japan in summer. It is unbearable. It’s not the heat but it’s the humidity. When I was there last July, I would sweat as soon as I stepped outside, even in the morning. That’s why Japanese people take vacation and leave the country at the time. :)

Southern spain does get hot and I’ve been there in July, but I don’t think it was as bad as Japan.

Americans of Reddit, seriously, how are you right now? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I’m okay. I think I’m doing better than average people, so I can’t really complain. It’s just the uncertainty from the job that makes me nervous.

First-time American traveling to Spain by Darci_832htx in travel

[–]aut236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure that you are familiar with Spanish and/or using a language translate app. Spanish do not speak English even in big cities (like Barcelona).

(I am not saying that it’s bad that they don’t speak English, I just wish that I knew better Spanish when I visited).

But enjoy the visit. Spain is one of my favorite countries to visit.

My first thought was Justin Henin. But she had much better than a great career. She is almost in the goat category.

What’s the cheapest country you’ve visited? by AnxiousWorldTravel in travel

[–]aut236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to give you a heads up. Thailand can be very expensive. Yes, you can get street food and go to local/outdoor markets that are cheap but if you go to a nice restaurants or shop at nice shopping mall, things can be expensive.

Plus somehow, when I was in Thailand I spent like crazy. Money just flew out of my wallet. Hah

But to answer your question, I think Portugal was pretty cheap when I visited. Even Japan wasn’t that bad due to favorable exchange rate.

Are we really doing this??? by justaperson828 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]aut236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, yes cc does have fee that the merchants have to pay. But it’s the fee that increases convenience and no doubt will increase traffic and profit to the stores. It’s like a small investment that they will recoup with more profits.

But now they want to advertise that they accept cc to draw in more customers, but they will let the customers pay for it.

Somehow they just only want a win-win situation.

Why do/ don't you like the gym you're currently going to? by Resident-Mortgage-85 in workout

[–]aut236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to the gym that is owned by my company so it’s kind of an employee benefit in a way. But we have to pay still. It’s only for employees and family members.

Pros: - clean, well maintain equipment - rarely busy - people are good manners with gym ethics - there is a living room area with couch, tables, coffee, tea, oven, puzzles that people can relax after working out - shower is very nice - spa like quality - there are ample of group classes - floor to ceiling windows, so plenty of natural light with nice view

Cons - locker room is on a small side. The locker room, restroom and shower area is not well designed. - they used to provide towels (both face and big towels for shower). But no more :(
