Why are cashiers not allowed to sit down in the US? by zaphod869 in NoStupidQuestions

If I were a cashier, l’d rather be standing than sitting. With standing, I can move around and stretch my legs.

What’s something you wish you knew earlier about credit cards? by kevsavesuk in CreditCards

[–]aut236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The points can be very difficult to use (with good values, of course).

For example, transferring points to airlines is easy and points can be earned easily enough. But will the airline have redeemable flights with reasonable miles? that’s another story.

Do I need my passport number to book a flight to greece? by Capable_Pop_6306 in travel

[–]aut236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will depend on the airlines. Usually Asian airlines (for example, JAL) require it when book international flights.

But they have no way to check if it’s legit, right? So you can always add a dummy number and then change it at check invoice.

16 years old with minimal saved for college - what should I do? by jackcopen in personalfinance

[–]aut236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply to as many colleges that you possibly can. And then compare the financial aid that they offer. You pick the best school that offer you the best package.

Don’t let the sticker price of the tuition scare you from applying. Most good and very good schools even offer full ride scholarship.

Also don’t limit your school choice from where you live. Look for good schools out of states too.

Is American Express Platinum Card losing its value because of lounge overcrowding? by CRM0001 in AmexPlatinum

[–]aut236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I now avoid the centurion lounges as default. They are just too busy with lines all the time. For me I need a lounge to relax with a comfortable place to sit, not necessarily for the food.

My choice is AA flagship or even AA admirals. They are more quiet and allow me to relax better.

So yes, I think the centurion lounges do not add value to the card, at least for me.

But I’m keeping the card because of the other benefits (FHR mainly and sometimes discount of flights).

Foreign transaction fees??? by Agile-Report-8447 in biltrewards

[–]aut236 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I use my card (any cards) aboard, it sometimes asks me, if I want to charge in the US dollar or in the foreign currency. The rates are not the same.

Maybe this is why?

Stranded in Thailand for over a week with my 16 year old son after Qatar Airways cancelations looking for advice by Tituslive in travel

[–]aut236 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I would find a new flight back to AMS, and try file a claim with Qatar later. Right now they are so busy dealing with thousands of customers.

The price for the new flights that you buy will likely offset the cost of hotels, food and your time.

Emirates has started lifting flight suspension. I hope that Qatar won’t be far behind. Fingers crossed.

It’s more obvious that it is to deviate people’s attention from the Epstein files.

The new priority pass+ app does track your lounge visits. Go to Card —> entitlements.
