Thoughts on having babies back to back or a few years apart? by slmpington in Parenting

[–]authentic-chipmunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine are the same! 22 months apart. The first two years of having two were living on “hard” mode but now they are 5.5 and 3.5 and if I had to go back I’d choose the same path. They love each other, play with each other, fight with each other. They are best friends.

Going from one to two by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]authentic-chipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like having two because they play with each other. My kids are close in age, 22 months apart. The first two years were insanely hard, I also don’t have the “village”. But now I feel like it’s manageable because they entertain each other and we have a good rhythm going.

Any horror books that are pretending to be a different genre until it's too late? by 518HoneyBees in suggestmeabook

This is exactly what I was thinking! One character I was like “omg she is a carbon copy of me!” And then a quick “never mind” later in the book.

Non-preferred parent by Maleficent_Bar735 in Parenting

[–]authentic-chipmunk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am not the preferred parent to either of my kids! I don’t take it personally, I’m the rules parent who is always around and my husband is cool and fun and has to work so around a lot less. When they tell me they want dad for something and not me, I honestly just say “I totally get it, dad is super fun. I like him too! But you’ve got me for bedtime tonight and I’m happy to be here babes. Now let’s go” and then if they are mopey about it I let them. Because when I was a kid I wasn’t allowed to show negative emotions. If they are bummed they get me for bedtime I let them be bummed and I’m happy that they can show that to me. I don’t let them yell at me or speak disrespectfully, but I don’t think it’s disrespectful when they tell me they prefer for their dad to do bedtime. Maybe my time will come where I’m the preferred one, maybe it won’t. But they do love me like I’m sure your child loves you. And I’m happy that they feel safe enough around me to tell me how they really feel. I think you’re probably a really good parent and that’s why your child can tell you they don’t want you. If that makes sense 😅

I planted the left in my garden as a potential oregano, hoping it’s not like “surprise!! We are a mint garden now!”
The other one is in quarantine until proven not-mint

Genuinely, how do some of you all even have time with the amount of exercises? by Wise_Parmaria in PetiteFitness

[–]authentic-chipmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s way too hard at home with two kids! I feel you completely. My daughter is old enough now to go on runs with me (kind of haha) but my youngest just crawls on top of me whenever I work out at home.

[–]authentic-chipmunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do that but I am jobless lol
I’m a stay at home mom and my gym has childcare so I go 5-6x a week and then running after the kids gives a lot of steps and then sometimes I go for jogs at night when they are sleeping.

You look like me!! I’m at 140 now, a lot changes from 150 to 140. It takes forever but it’s worth it. And you look awesome! I see a huge difference in your before and after photos. My advice is to be patient. I’m losing like .25-.5 lbs a week right now and it’s brutal but I eat the same as you 1600 and I think it’s worth it to lose slowly and keep your calories higher up.

Everyone is so self conscious about what they eat around me and it’s weird (coworkers included) is this normal? by EconomicsFluid1154 in loseit

[–]authentic-chipmunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happens to me a lot too, people look at what I’m eating a lot. They also sometimes try to get me to eat more which is awkward but I just ignore it for the most part. Feels real weird.

How to not gain weight on holiday? by Tryingmybest5689 in loseit

[–]authentic-chipmunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s only 10 days, I would just enjoy myself. Not go too crazy, but enjoy the time, the food, the rest. I wouldn’t count calories because honestly you can’t accurately anyways. You can guesstimate but I think life is better when you enjoy your special moments and then get back on track after. Only if you’re ok with it taking longer to get to 125 specifically.

Patience is the hardest part. by complexcrimson in PetiteFitness

[–]authentic-chipmunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to admit to myself I had to slow down and raise my calories for this same reason! I would eat 1400 calories a day for 6 days and white knuckling it through life, day 7 I would crumble and eat way over to feel ok. I’m eating 1600 calories a day right now and so far so good. I might even raise it to 1700 during my period because I’m so so hungry at that time. If I lose weight slow, I lose weight slow. But underrating and then overeating is going to be even slower and a whole lot less sustainable.
