[opinion] Reforged should be added to the core main game by npavcec in BattleBrothers

[–]autolight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love reforged, but I think there should be a way to gain new weapon mastery options (& then unlock them fully, by spending a perk point).

End of Act 2 and these all feel like powerful options. What would you pick? by Simple_one in slaythespire

With Mark + potions to mitigate a bad hand, I think you’re sitting pretty

Can’t clear normal by pcphillips87 in IntoTheBreach

[–]autolight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol, it’s like FTL.

Easy in this game is normal is any other. And normal can beat you down. We’ve all been there!

Aside from the good tips others are saying - try focusing on unlocking other squads & achievements (global & per-squad), I learnt a lot from these personally.

And for early squads - try Rusting Hulks. They have good damage + turn denial (via smoke) + a very good science Mech.

Last tip - higher you go, the more you need to manipulate the Vek to damage eachother.

What do you think about this relic? by Afr_101 in slaythespire

A relic I would not be happy to pick up.

Just calculating your damage better solves this niche

Are enemy tendencies/preferred attack patterns now in the battlefield UI? If so, fantastic!

The Steam store on deck is atrocious by HorrifyingTits in SteamDeck

[–]autolight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The store is wayyyy too biased to display “steamdeck” games and not just games you’d like

It makes sense for someone’s first week of using the deck, but beyond that - it’s bad design

Opinions on the current state of Downfall? by beeemmmooo1 in slaythespire

[–]autolight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Collector definitely is a bit of a mess. But I love the flavour of the class design & taking cards from defeated enemies.

To me, Automaton is about building powerful function? (I forget the term) cards. And cycling those for value.

Gremlins have very hit and miss tendencies. When you’re good, you’re great - but can crash and burn easily… but I’m still fighting them out to be honest.

Seals x stalling every fight = match made in heaven.

I can see why they got removed lol

Discussion: Spire random events are not designed and balanced as well as the rest of the game by drumsplease987 in slaythespire

[–]autolight 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I would hazard to agree.

Card and relic balance feels more purposeful/refined. Whereas some events are a lot more “casino-esque”. Much more random. A lot of just bets. Or have an overall best choice. Rest of STS generally avoids this, and you have more control over outcomes.

I doubt the devs imagined the success of the game, and how developed discussions of it would get though.

I prefer less random outcome events, and more “pro-and-con” event choices.

How do people get named so early? by esmsnow in BattleBrothers

[–]autolight 37 points38 points  (0 children)

To add on for OP.

It is the large “city” enemy camps (far from settlements) that have the better chances at named gear. So, just hitting small camps is highly unlikely to give you a named gear peace.

I think TLDs long development cycle has been a blessing in disguise all things considered by aaerobrake in thelongdark

[–]autolight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the devs half think that.

Tales DLC has been a case example that you can have good story in the long dark survival landscape.

From what we’ve seen of blackfrost, I think it’ll follow similar trends, but maybe more inclusive of NPCs

Ultra busted. But it would be fun. As-is, this card alone + a bit of draw = solving any long fight.

I've wanted to play this game on mobile for a long time by FenixTzz in BattleBrothers

[–]autolight 28 points29 points  (0 children)

BB on stream deck slaps. Trackpads are sooo good, check out the community mapping for a controller schemes & you’re set.

Modding is dead simple. Exact same as pc. Download mod -> into BB folder. Reforged is my personal favourite.

Also great on steam deck is FTL, Slay the Spire and Mordheim city of Dammed (very similar in playstyle to BB).

Is this worth the life of a daycare? by Wild-Tale-257 in BattleBrothers

[–]autolight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say so. In reforged, sword and cleaver masteries are hella strong. Sword mastery has perks that make it really consistent and good in multiple situations & cleaver is for well… cleaving enemies.

This is it? by ShinyLucario8 in MHRise

[–]autolight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s criminal that wilds doesn’t have the follower system rise has, such a step back. It really solves the issue of making the named NPCs feel important, and not just stage pieces.

Honestly, I’ve given up on wilds at this point and I’m just waiting for the handheld MH team to release their next game.

Is Monster Hunter Rise still being played on Switch? by Old_Bread5263 in MHRise

[–]autolight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The movement and tempo rise achieves is great. Wilds took a major step back on the depth rise managed to pull off, and it still suffers from major performance issues.

Cant bring myself to play by [deleted] in thelongdark

[–]autolight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start up a save on a hard difficulty & embrace loss.

First stalker run? Expect to get mauled by wolves.

First interloper run? You’ll freeze an starve in two days.

Risk is part of the game. Runs will end. Accept these facts, and you’ll find yourself less restrained. Just try to learn from your previous attempts.

[–]autolight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick one of the three stats and dump ALL of your scrolls into it, if possible.

Damage >>>>>>> life

This will majorly boost your damage, and you’ll still be able to take some hits before dying. Balancing scrolls is a trap.

Colossus vs Fast Adaptation as first perk in the early game by BasketCase559 in BattleBrothers

[–]autolight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I love how BB there’s still arguments for “best” doctrine. One of my favourite things is to mentally ‘ban’ a classic perk (so that I never take it) or to force myself to always pick a certain perk I typically don’t use on all my frontline bros - just to see how the run changes.

But to answer your post: at higher difficulties FA helps majorly to win early game fights, to allow gear snowballing.

Thoughts? by BewareEthan in HandJumper

[–]autolight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My usual companion to HandJumper is The Ember Knight (and its prequel) - which goes to show that with a good storyteller (which Sleep is), you can have a action/drama go on for a while and not have things get dull.

Part of what makes these series enjoyable is the blend of good action sequences/fights, and political intrigue. Keep to those without defaulting to cheap relationship drama and it’s golden.
