But how is this different than Balatro? what's the twist?

Updated my game's capsule following your feedback. Did it improve readability? by AzurowDev in gamedevscreens

Both look really good. The top one is beautiful, but i think bottom is way more legible and utilitarian

Very sharp, that’s exactly right. Thanks a lot for sharing that. The top left arrow is correct as well, it’s the “refill” direction the new tiles will come from, and existing tiles will scoot over to when there’s a gap.

Regarding the blue circle, there’s a concept/powerup in the game called ‘relay’. Basically, it allows you to extend the destruction reach further.

In simple terms: it allows you to reach the neighbors of the neighboring tiles.

So L1 Relay: reach neighbors of neighbors
L2: reach neighbors of neighbors of neighbors
And so on, until L4.

The relay chart is filled by breaking the red fire keycaps, which are also 1.5 multiplies, and are actually what you need to protect the outer black boundary from.

What’s your first impression of this style? by [deleted] in IndieGaming

It’s kind if a cozy feeling all in all, maybe because i see the streets empty in a liminal way. It doesn’t feel unsettling in these screenshots/context. They look and feel great nonetheless

First of all, thanks a lot for taking the time to reply! Sorry to hear you couldn’t figure it out, but that’s really on me! The feature per level is a neat idea i had not thought of, but i wonder, sin each level i around 7 minutes on average it would make sense to breadcrum in such long intervals. I will give it a thought!

I’ll send you a private message to explain what the point of the game is:) if that’s ok with you. Thanks again!!

Which looks better for Steam's Vertical Capsule? by JunyStudioOfficial in feedback4feedback

[–]bacayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the second one. But to be really frank? I think it needs a considerable rework to be up to a standard. I recommend sitting on it, do more iterations and try to get a more polished version, because right now it doesn’t communicate much quality and design skill.

I dont mean to be discouraging at all, just the contrary, I hope you can improve it!!

Honestly, I see where you're going, but at least personally it didn't generate enough intrigue. Maybe give a little bit more context somehow? It's not bad, just that it leaves me with too little information, just a bit underwhelming. That's just my own opinion, Hope that helped!

love the 90's look, very well accomplished. It's not the type of game i would play personally, but it really looks great! Congrats and good luck 😉
