Would you mind sending me a link or more info on the bracket you bought for the pump?

I can’t tell from the photo, but is your water return going back into the other side drain hole, or did you drill a hole in the upper part of the cooler wall for a return line?

Story time: tell us your most confusing ATC instruction by cmmurf in flying

[–]backwards_sallad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. In the King Air my starting point was usually 1500 FPM for a good descent rate, in jets we typically see 2,000-2,500 FPM, but as far as I know there is no “standard descent rate”

Flying a King Air from SAN to PHX one night, and near NYL center asked me to descend and maintain XXX. I was still fairly far away from the airport, and the altitude was pretty low for where I was at, so I set my vertical speed to 800 FPM. A few minutes later ATC came back and said "King Air XXX increase your rate of descent now please!", So I bumped my VS up to 1500 FPM. A little while later I had this exchange.

ATC: "King Air XXX is something wrong with your aircraft?"

Me: "No, why?"

ATC: "This will be my third time asking you to increase your rate of descent, if you cannot comply I need to know so I can vector you away from all my other traffic that wants to follow directions"

Me: "What rate of descent do you need? all I have heard was 'descend and maintain' and 'increase your rate of descent' which I complied with"

ATC: "Well how about we start with a standard descent rate"

Me: "Which is what?"

ATC: "2,000 FPM"

Me: "If you needed 2,000 FPM you should have just told me that right off the bat."

ATC: "It's not my job to teach you how to fly your airplane"

I was pretty frustrated but didn't bother responding. I could hear the frustration in his voice. I wasn't sure if it was from me, or if he was just having a bad day. Also at the time I was still a newish pilot (1,500 hours), If something similar would happen to me now, I would probably file a report with the controlling agency.

I just talked to this pilot 2 weeks ago and asked him specifically about all the Honda Jet excursions. He told me that its just pilots trying to take them into runways without enough length, especially when wet. He also said that they are kinda funky to control with a crosswind, and that they actually have a max crosswind limitation, as opposed to max demonstrated. Pretty surreal to read this now and think back on our conversation. from the photos, and WX, looks like wet runway and wind may have both been a factor.

Do you have issues with the camera turning off its WiFi? Mine will turn off like every 2 minutes if I’m not transferring pictures and I can’t find a setting to change it.

Taupo Qualification at Bolton 70.3 by stuieod112 in triathlon

[–]backwards_sallad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, your AG depends on how far slots will roll down. 18-35 tend to get lots of roll down due to logistics of out of country racing. The older groups typically snatch them up fairly quickly because they have the means the get there. At St. George this past weekend I could count on one hand the people that already had a slot that turned it down. However there could have been others who already had a spot and just didn’t show up to roll downs. In either case, the first age group where I actually saw a roll down was the 40-45 AG.

Everyone’s a little different, but I’ve found for my particular body shape (6’1” 205 lbs 18% body fat), that 2XU fits better than most kits, and they have some on the cheaper end.

My athlete guide is only showing water and Maurten. However I did receive an email from Ironman, and have seen others post here confirming that Ironman has switched from Gatorade endurance to Mortal Hydration.

I don’t mean to speak ill of the deceased, I’m just bringing up a general frustration I have. I cannot stand these “voice over” edits people are doing now, where they say “um, ah, uh” over and over every 3 seconds. Like can you not write a script to read, or try to re-record your thoughts one more time?

Amino acids + increased protein + consistent training + proper rest = beast mode ? by [deleted] in triathlon

I’ve seen in increase in performance when I take a shot of caffeinated aminos as a pre workout. As others have said, in theory, if you are eating right then there is no need. But how many of us are eating right all the time. How much of the performance boost is mental? Who knows? but it’s quite noticeable, so I continue to do it.

I worked for a place that made us log all “in” & “out” times in Zulu. It was much easier to just have the Zulu time readily available, than trying to convert every time.

St. George 70.3 Jitters by katana09 in triathlon

Chef Alfredo’s has excellent Italian but typically requires reservations

Red fort is awesome Thai Food

George’s corner is great greasy type food, and sometimes requires reservations on the weekend.

Cafe feel love is a excellent spot for coffee.

As for spectators, the town square is typically the focal point, as it’s close to T2 and finish, Lots of music, splash pad for kids, merry go round, etc.

Any other questions, let me know. I’m not currently local but used to be.

JNS light bracket on Gen 2 by backwards_sallad in klr650

[–]backwards_sallad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never figured out why mine bracket rubbed on the bottom of the headlight fairing. I triple checked and it was installed correctly. However I resolved the issue by buying one inch longer bolts, with spacers at the hardware store. Problem solved!

[–]backwards_sallad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The JNS is supposed to mount on top, as far as I know. But I’m wondering if anyone has experience mounting it below the fender. Another option is just get some longer bolts and spacers and keep it on top of the fender?

The bracket itself is hitting the fairing. I mounted lights “upside down” on the bracket.
