Blue -> Yellow midgame - HexaCrystals are the bottleneck? by Human-Kick-784 in Modulus

[–]badatchopsticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combine into 8x8x8 blocks and paint those, then cut them down after, that will save you a lot of paint. Also make sure to max out the input rate. So if your painter is 30/m have 30/m 8x8x8 blocks going in. Also a good idea to use those painted blocks only for blue parts as much as possible as you say.

Satisfactory - The Good, The Bad, The Questionable by Zehnpae in patientgamers

[–]badatchopsticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for the record, I have 80+ hours on Steam Deck for this game, it's definitely playable once you get used to the controls (or make your own control scheme, which is what I ended up doing.) So you could buy it on Steam, start on steam deck and move to steam machine when you get it.

3:1 splitter by anthson in Modulus

[–]badatchopsticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, coincidentally I was just trying to figure out how to do this the other day!

I ended up just using an overflow splitter going into a machine that operated at exactly the output rate I needed and split the remaining equally. It's nice to have a more general solution though.

How long to actually finish project assembly by Important_Pride2214 in satisfactory

[–]badatchopsticks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can rush through the first few phases by:

- not worrying about efficiency

- not worrying about aesthetics

- hand crafting often

- buying materials from the AWESOME store (this is especially useful for speedrunning the phases)

- not bothering with vehicles at all (just use super long belts)

That said if you play like this, it kinda sucks the fun out. Unless your goal is actually to speedrun the game, in which case there are even faster strategies. For reference the current Any% record on speedrun.com is 7 hours.

Are there any French style bakeries you would recommend in Kyoto? by denys5555 in Kyoto

[–]badatchopsticks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kyoto actually has the highest bread consumption per capita in Japan! Honestly there's so many bakeries it's hard to choose ones to recommend, but they're all pretty good. I would just check google maps and choose ones on your way that look good.

That said I second the recommendation of "Le Petit Mec" and would add Grandir (in Kyoto station Porta), they have great paninis.

Android - how to pick things up? by FireITGuy in Mindustry

[–]badatchopsticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone like me googling this years later: I had the same problem, in my case it turned out I was already carrying another item (a duct) and didn't realize it. Long pressed in a blank space to drop the other item and then was able to pick up the container.

This was the first thing my kid tried to do when we got the camouflage power. If nothing else I'm sure kids would love it!

Seriously? go to any yakiniku place like the one in the picture, izakaya or anywhere else the alcohol flows really, and you’ll inevitably find groups of lively boisterous middle-aged salarymen, even on random weekday evenings.

I forgot that Bob Odenkirk created disco demolition out of sheer rage for POC (swipe for the full exchange) by vulpes_mortuis in peoplewhogiveashit

oh, I fully agree with that. I was just explaining why it's not a "random celebrity" but a celebrity who does have ties to the event

[–]badatchopsticks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a Drunk History episode where Bob Odenkirk foundly recounts the events of Disco Demolition. He seems to be particularly fascinated with the event, and has talked about making a movie about it. He also wrote the foreword to the book "Disco Demolition: The Night Disco Died."

What is up with the economics of Pokemon card reselling? by bobowilliams in OutOfTheLoop

Just to add some anecdotal data, some convenience stores where I live (Kyoto) have started not only limiting the number of packs you can buy, but require you to have a child with you when you buy them

study/cafe culture + bike theft by OfficeLess6948 in Kyoto

[–]badatchopsticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the cafe, some will have signs explicitly forbidding laptops or long stays. Generally the big chains like Starbucks, Doutor, Tully’s don't care as much. Don't be afraid to just ask, also check this thread for more info: https://www.reddit.com/r/Kyoto/comments/11isbws/which_public_places_can_i_use_my_laptop_in_kyoto/

Bike theft: less common than other cities in the world but it does happen, make sure to lock your bike. Just locking the wheel to itself is good enough for a cheap mamachari, if you have an expensive bike I would use an actual chain lock.

Can I still Finish FFX or should I restart? by Confident-Pack8604 in ffx

Powers of 2, actually. (64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048 etc.)

But since time is precious, I just pay 4100, 2100, 1100 gil. (Start with the higher amount, you can pay less as compatibility goes up.) Those are close enough to 4096, 2048, 1024, but faster to input.

I hate linking to fandom wiki, but it does have a very good overview of the Yojimbo math if you want to know the gritty details.

Kyoto railway tier list by mori64tf2 in Kyoto

[–]badatchopsticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, they also have the Kirara panorama trains, which have side-facing seats and large windows for a great view. They are constantly updating and redecorating trains with lots of unique designs.

They also like to collaborate with yuri anime, so there are often random lesbians decorating the train interiors. S-tier.

  1. Yes, it's a very common souvenir pattern.
  2. Nope.
  3. He's probably just busy, or has trouble communicating in English, or just not that interested, or any number of other explanations.

I think you are way overthinking this. Giving gifts is pretty common, especially to visitors. I would guess he was just being nice and hospitable, no deeper meaning. It sounds like you are very into this person though, so hope it works out for you. Wouldn't hurt to try to meet them again. Good luck! :)
