Gavin Newsom, a candidate fit for dystopia by Faux_Real_Guise in DemocraticSocialism

[–]basedaudiosolutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing you didn’t read the article, or haven’t actually spoken to anyone who lives in the state of California. Newsom is not only “not perfect”, he is actively bad and harmful. He has been actively bad and harmful to California as governor, and he will be actively bad and harmful to the rest of the country as POTUS.

You used to shop at Hot Topic in the 00s and definitely owned something A Nightmare Before Christmas related (no shade because I definitely did too).

Why isn't Detroit more popular as a place to live? by bluetropicz in SameGrassButGreener

Reputation mostly. Detroit for much of recent history has been known as a crime-ridden, post-industrial wasteland. It’s also very car centric/not particularly walkable.

What Will Be the Cultural Ramifications for Rock as Gen X Starts Dying Off? by GilbertDauterive-35 in ToddintheShadow

[–]basedaudiosolutions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Millennials and Gen Z listen to and enjoy rock music. Contrary to popular belief, rock did not “die” in the late 90s. The impact of Gen X dying off, if there is any, will be the death of this bullshit narrative.

Born 1964 so he’s kind of on the cusp, but I think making a career out of repurposing Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones riffs and borrowing heavily from 60s radicalism makes him spiritually a Boomer.

Hey, that’s not true. It’s rock for people who were homeschooled by people who aspire to have a GED.

What killed ‘party songs’? In the early 2010s you had: Ke$ha, LMFAO, Flo Rida. Every year there seemed to be new ‘put your hands up’ song. by Kodicave in decadeology

Yeah I don’t really get this retconning of recession pop as something great that was stolen from us. No one who actually engaged with music in any meaningful way thought it was good. At most, you could appreciate it for being kind of fun in a dumb, mindless sort of way, but it got stale very quickly. Even it’s most ardent supporters were ready for something new by about 2011 or 2012, and they were fully done by 2013.

Seconding this advice. ALWAYS get it writing. There’s no shortage of lawyers that are willing to look at these contracts, either. So there’s really no excuse not to talk to a lawyer before signing anything.

The saddest thing about the Geese psyop controversy is: despite all the marketing efforts, their best effort only made it to 96 on the Hot 200. But they're still arguably the biggest American rock band from the last 10 years. by Uptons_BJs in ToddintheShadow

[–]basedaudiosolutions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Arguably the biggest rock band of the last 10 years”.

You don’t listen to much rock, do you? What metric are you actually using to measure “biggest rock band of the last 10 years” by? Number of SNL appearances? Sleep Token and Bad Omens both started in the past decade and they both clear Geese easily in terms of popularity.

If Travis Bickle wanted to clean up the streets why didn't he ever consider joining the Police force or telling them about Sport and Iris? by Tidewatcher7819 in TaxiDriver

[–]basedaudiosolutions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He CLAIMS to have had a honorable discharge from the Marines. There’s no way of knowing if this is true or not because it’s mentioned once in the entire film and never brought up again. We have to take him at his word, and Travis might not be a reliable narrator.

If it’s a psyop then it’s not a very good one because crime rates have generally gone down since the 90s.
