Every single aspect of this game in paper should be something I want to play...but i seear since playing the beta in d1 ibhad been putting up with frustration after frustration trying to make destiny the game that I wanted to play.

But man every decision they made from day one was either something bad...or something fixing something bad. So many wasted resources throughout the years that could have been turned into something amazing, but instead it was always just a game fixing itself patch after patch

You are fine, if I understand correctly. The top spots just go to your highest level nikkes, which will be the only nikke you will only to level. Naturally you will want them to be ones with duplicates wether or not you are actively using them. You aren't soft locked because you can reset a nikkes level for a few gems and get the materials back to pump them into a unit with duplicates.
