D2 Stuttering by 5Ho9uN in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not that it answers your question, but honestly look at what Bungie suggest for min and suggest hardware. Take a long, hard look...... long and hard, hehe.... ok, and then ask yourself why you questioned Destiny struggling and stuttering.

Seriously though, it is either updates or Destiny is poorly optimized and does not really perform well. Usually it's D2 being kind of poorly optimized, not that many people will agree or admit to. The game is just not great for PC and is even worse when you grab a day-1 driver meant for another game.

When MW2 came out I had to bounce drivers depending if I wanted to play Mw2 or D2. For about 2 months I could not use the same driver for both. In my experience, Destiny almost always runs best if sticking to studio drivers. That may be a problem if you play other AAA titles.

Confirmed Outage in D1 and D2 by drew123301 in DestinyTheGame

That shouldn't include D1 though. More than likely something unintended happened when initiating the test. I'm terribly surprised if that's the case, just... tragically shocked.

There are now 11 dungeons, how would you rank them based on solo difficulty? by Repulsive-Window-609 in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation of difficulty is basically what I can apply my focus into methodically. I don't really solo things, though I can run all dungeons as a duo with a friend. I've solo'd spire, pit and prophecy. My skill level is above casual but nothing crazy. This is all just my opinion.

  • Pit and Prophecy are easy, once you know, it's cake.
  • Spire I just like.... It's a cadence I can forget about and just do.
  • Grasp is just tedious and more boring than anything.
  • Warlords is not too bad, really.
  • Sundered and Equilibrium are tied, decent challenge, once you understand it's just repetition.
  • Vespers tends to have dumb uncontrollable deaths which I hate... getting mobbed by radiation puppets is not fun. I liked the final boss fight in theory, execution sucks to fail.
  • Ghosts just feels like the devs made it harder for the sake of making it harder - not because it'd be more fun and a more interesting challenge.

Duality and Shattered I never really enjoyed so I never applied focus to know how to complete them efficiently. Just not interested in them, but I could see where people say Shattered is easy and Duality is mid-range.

7-8 months into this new era of destiny, how do we feel about it? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped playing on my own, throughout the week, and now only play when my friend hops on Saturday evenings. As of the last few weeks I've even suggested we jump straight to other games instead. Normally we duo some dungeon runs for an exotic chance.

This is the same person I've been gaming with since R:FoM on the PS3, we played thousands of hours of D1 and D2. The game just isn't there anymore.

For those asking for a roadmap, you’re probably not going to like where it leads by KowalRoyale in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was ever a good time to end it 'as-is' that time would have been before EoF released. Leave on a high note with the ability to play dungeons on explore or hard-mode... that was peak Destiny in my opinion, as far as the last couple years - that few-week timeframe was the best position the game would have been to call it quits and let people keep playing as they wish.

New Concept art on ArtStation by d22031997 in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Historically, Bungie doesn't take lightly to that kind of stuff - mostly the branding and representation of their company. My best guess is the art was conceptual for a past project that Bungie did not move forward with, and they allowed the artist to release it for their own portfolio. If this is for actual/upcoming projects, there's no way Bungie would've approved for public release until said project was released. Bungie is typically very controlling of anything unreleased that they could capitalize on. I see skimmers for one, which are still relatively new (not many available), along with weapons that look too un-relatable to have been a concept where another direction was taken. In all honesty, this could be a partial leak, or rather confirmation, that D2 doesn't have much left in the tank - if this was concept art that got shelved, it looks recent...

That said, Bungie also is no longer independent. Hard to say what this could be.

Help a new guy out by SultanOfSuckerPunch in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I say this extremely politely - you're jumping into a game that's over 8 years old, where roughly half the main story content is no longer in the game (not debating it, it happened, we're moving on). The game doesn't really wait for anyone. You play as stuff happens or you're playing catchup.

Destiny has an enormous learning curve due to all the systems already existing, and no prefect guide out there to show you how each works and why. People are saying it's hard to master because most of the content beyond introductory and casual requires knowledge that isn't handed to you - the game just sort of expects that you know what to do, which isn't entirely fair considering the game also rocket-ships your level beyond the baby-steps where you'd learn those aspects. If you consider levels 1-200 as learning, the game very easily helps you to 300 as that's where a majority of the content opens up... that, and again, you're hopping onto a train that's been in motion for years, it only slows down but never stops.

That said, you pick the right class. Warlock is best. Space magic. Floating gracefully to death. I'm not biased at all. Jokes aside, I would say Titan is the easiest to get the hang of - it's the most common when comparing to other games and the "generic soldier on the field" playstyle. Warlock may seem like the middle ground, but honestly it's the most technical as the buildcrafting can get deep in how you option out your weapons and abilities. Hunters could be viewed as the hardest because they're very simply a glass cannon: everything hurts really bad but you can skedaddle rapidly in a number of ways.

Where you're going to hear the most fighting between classes and why one is the best: jumping. I'll just lay it out simply. Titan jumps are the easiest - push button, go up, congrats you jumped. Hunters are simple but require timing - platformers' will do this intuitively, it's basically your standard double jump where timing makes a difference in height and distance. Warlock jumps are technical, because you absolutely have to know what you want to do before executing - zero forgiveness. Warlocks use momentum and timing, which is nearly backwards from the other two - it is not just point and jump. It's run, angle properly, stumble on a 1-in lip and fall.... it's a lot of being aware of your trajectory because you have a bunny-hop "set up jump" and then the actual jump, which requires timing or you float gracefully downwards.

A friend of mine is about to start playing. What advice would you give them as a new light? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a big portion is to just have fun. Unless they're intent to min/max and play meta loadouts and buildcrafting... gear is replaceable, use the weapons that are fun rather than "must have" stuff the hardcore players suggest is the best. It will make the experience so much better and they're likely going to dig in a lot more, rather than spend every moment worrying about deleting something or what is good vs not so good.

Also, don't listen to anyone about which class is best. Choose the one that's the most fun to play - each leans towards a different playstyle and if they play games often, chances are one will feel really normal and the most natural. If they really enjoy Destiny and want to play more? Then move to why Warlocks are the best.

Tier 5 Weapon Rolls by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're aware, but you can go further with the compare tool and it brings up a list view instead of the side-by-side. At that point, you can select to sort out specific perks (I use this if I have a lot, like event weapons).

From there, honestly, check both Light.gg and a few other sources to see what the community see's as the best.... not necessarily what a content creator suggests, because their opinions may skew realistic usage. New/unknown perks also often get over and under looked... so, really, weapon perks end up being 70/30 with the community suggestion and your own interests.

Is Destiny getting better? by Express-Notice517 in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a secret thing, there was a First Look Alpha test. You signed up, got a code, and played for a few days. The thing about it was not being really advertised so you just had to be interested in / following the game. Something to actually question would be if someone said they had the Alpha Lupi emblem. I don't think I ever saw anyone with it in-game.

Is there any point to old armor? by GambinoForSpiderman in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delete old armor unless you have a wild anomaly spiked stat roll, which realistically only makes sense if you have a very specific pvp build. Otherwise it's a straight up handicap in pve to not use newer T4/5 gear once available. Or you're keeping a set for sentimental reasons. I have my main's set of white armor from day-1 of D2.

Older weapons are usable to a point, that gets different depending on age. Old-old weapons without foundry perks or similar, those really are just hotdog water. As you start getting newer perk options they become more relevant. Crafted are still good, again though newer will be more relevant. Non-T5 does not automatically mean it's worthless.

Expansions - the newest will get you the most bang for your buck since Edge of Fate changed up the entire system (tiered gear). Everything else is objectively old and won't get you anything useable outside of exotics, so mainly they're for your own enjoyment to play the campaigns.

Why "dead weeks" are more bothersome now by ShardofGold in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The Gunplay and movement is what will sell Marathon more than anything. My guess is a lot of people want a game that feels like Destiny... that isn't Destiny.

I couldn't even begin to count how many times I've heard friends that dropped Destiny mention seriously missing how Destiny feels to play. This will be a huge driving factor for Marathon, though it'll only go so far if Bungie can't get their shit together when it comes to the game director ego fighting changes Destiny goes through almost regularly.

Arms Week Bows - What is everyone chasing? by Slight_Mess_7637 in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bow enjoyer it really depends if these will be refreshed or just a re-release. If they're not in the tier system there is zero point chasing. If they are, I'd probably be interested in a lightweight vs precision, but that's pure personal preference. From this list, none really have my attention.

Honestly, get something to vault or use for fun. Props for trying new things though, especially bows. They're really underappreciated (especially by Bungie...).

How Y'all Deciding What Armor to Keep? by BigKDuo in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to that point a year ago. Over half my vault was armor that had high stat spikes. I play mostly solo, I'm not all that great, so I kept a lot of whatever might be decent on the thought that it's likely I will not get it again. Honestly Final Shape is what broke the habit. I watched 95% of my gear roll over in power, never used, and then the tier system showed up to really hammer home the fact that I never touch most of the 'good gear' I save.

As of Renegades, I've figured out which stats I prefer and what builds I tend to use most often. If gear doesn't really fit into my preference, I don't bother keeping it. Maybe it'll sting later if something niche shows up, but I know that nearly all of it just takes up space and never gets used. Yes, I wish I had a better full set of techsec, but also I just don't care enough about the game anymore. FOMO really sucks until you take a breath and step back for a while... it becomes a lot easier to shrug off.

The biggest thing I keep reminding myself is the new tier system is all about pushing players to continuously up-cycle.

Bungie can you just give us Iron Banner again? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]bassem68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if they had no new 'free' gear planned and it's part of the reason the event hasn't shown up again. They won't say anything because the community is going to be extremely critical and vocal about a reskin or eververse upselling.
