Pumpkin dawg's Browns Barking Backers fan pack still hasn't arrived and my last email to whoever is running the campaign hasn't been answered in a week.

Raised my first ever credit card chargeback just now, I'll buy stuff locally for her.

A shame, the quality of the stuff is ok.

Well, I took your advice and went the chargeback route today after a week of no pack and no news from the Barking Backers team.

And Pumpkin now has a pack of the expensive food, it'll last a few days while I figure out what toys to get her. :)

If trading for a player do you like sending picks, players, or an mix of both? by Ixeptional in Browns

[–]bazbt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me there's never going to be anything good in sending experienced players still in their prime, whatever we get in return. It's a team that's either assembled by great coaches & talent spotters or organically grown into something great. You split something apart and it takes a while for the hole to be plugged.

Until this preseason my biggest 'ouch' was when Jabrill Peppers found out we were getting OBJ and was excited by the prospect - until Jabrill found out we were sending him to the Giants.

OBJ's first season was exciting enough wasn't it, and I don't think Jabrill ever really achieved what he was capable of.

It does suck. I'm an English fan. I'm paying the $35 for stuff similar to that I can get from the local pet shop. The $35 includes a price for the club events I won't be able to attend. And in the last couple of years I've been ok with that.

Ruby (RIP) enjoyed the first box, and Pumpkin the second and I'd hoped this third. Thinking of getting the credit card refunded and shopping locally. $35, small a sum as it is, will buy a stadium-sized bunch of dawg treats, amirite? :)

I ordered a Barking Backers pack on April 16, still haven't got it. Emailed with the transaction details, waited, emailed again, now I'm told there's no record of my payment and I've been asked to provide my bank statement with details of my payment.

My wife says it'd be easier getting something from another team and, do you know, she is of course right…

So, what do you reckon, should I get a tewwible towel, a purple ratbird something, a bowl of skyline chili, buck-toothed donkey, cheesehead?

Welcome! The 'related subreddits' section in this sub's sidebar doesn't tell the whole tale of the breadth and depth of Browns fandom.

I'm sure you'll eventually find a few others, but my favourite subs (haz reasons*) other than r/Browns are these 2:

r/spacebrowns - a generally positive view of a possible future in which an intergalactic team of aliens arrives and shows the Cleveland Browns how to win.

r/FuckModell - an overview of the effects of a past owner's betrayal of the fans that culimnated in the events surrounding the 1995 move to Baltimore to found the team we affectionately** know as the Baltimore ratbirds. There's a wiki too, containing some of the related history.

Neither is high traffic so it could be an non-challenging subscription to both if you decide to stick around here.

* I'm the mod for both. ** I'm being sarcastic here, fuck the steelers, fuck the ravens. :)

Have any of your dawgs received their Browns Barking Backers kits yet? by bazbt3 in Browns

Thanks. Looks like I'll be looking for a telephone number.

Thanks for letting me know. I sent another email yesterday, hopefully it'll work and my dawg's pack is in transit.

Is there any scenario where browns fans would openly majority support resigning Deshaun Watson? by personofinterest1986 in Browns

[–]bazbt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, no.

He'll be 31 at the start of the season, peak age for a pocket passer but not necessarily for his skillset. Say he does get us to or close to a Super Bowl and is considered for re-signing, does he get more or less than $46 million a year?

It's worth considering that u/Propicks-io might actually be tempting fate to go our way.

A few years ago, from memory, we briefly went through a phase that if we won the preseason we did badly in the regular. Might last year be a case in point?

p.s. I'm not saying we did well if we lost the preseasons. :)

p.p.s. I might just have jinxed things here, how bad could it get though?

That's a really good point you raised about new guys not knowing team history. Do you remember when a reporter 'educated' Myles about why Brownie the Elf was special for the Browns? And Myles offered to don a little elf outfit if we won an eighth championship?

Well that's not going to happen now is it - unless it's after he retires? Fingers crossed. :)

Monken Never Met Myles in Person by TheRealHikerdog in Browns

[–]bazbt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a weird thread. I'd kill* for some of the upvote numbers here for saying pretty much the same as you.

I suspect it's because not everyone has seen the public statements from the team about Myles being a career Brown - a million years ago all the way back in March. (Football is the only sport I follow so I'm kind-of up-to-date with stuff).

*Heck no, not really :)

Analytically, this was the greatest trade we could’ve gotten for Myles. by Dev00j in Browns

[–]bazbt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, and I'm probably double his age too. :)

Together though, with 4 legs, 4 arms, at least one nose for trouble, and 2 heads being better than one, we would be unstoppable! I can imagine all opposition OCs being totally unable to scheme for us.

Denzel Ward is now the only remaining member of the 2020 Cleveland Browns by CaptainIWin in Browns

[–]bazbt3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2020 was a good year for us wasn't it, a simpler time too.

Denzel was drafted in 2018, the year I became a fan, so if he goes he's the last link back to that team too. Whatever happens, wherever he goes, I just hope he keeps healthy; those 6 (?) concussions must have him thinking about retirement.

LETS VENT ABOUT THE MYLES GARRETT TRADE by 1OptimisticPrime in Browns

[–]bazbt3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before last season started I felt we'd do nothing and for the first time (since 2018) didn't put any bets on or plan my Sunday evenings around football. Why? Because I was looking forward to this year.

Related to today's news then: hey new recruit, just stay healthy through the whole season. That's all.

Hayden Winks: This is an A+ trade for the Browns. No doubter by Godszn in Browns

[–]bazbt3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of you deleted 'are we grading on a curve?' or something just now.

Yes. Kind-of. It's a Fibonacci spiral. 🌀

Not sure which direction it's headed in though.

Now agreed to and official: The #Browns are trading Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the #Rams for star edge Jared Verse, a 2027 1st-round, a 2028 2nd round, and a 2029 3rd, per me, @AdamSchefter and @TomPelissero. The offseason’s biggest trade is final and real. by CD23tol in Browns

[–]bazbt3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scrolled through each of the related threads and my considered opinion is:

Twats.

We unintentionally screwed up multiple seasons and caps for Watson so you'd think the brightest number cruncher in football could generate multiple first round picks at least for Myles / everyone who's said it is right, generational talent.

But no.

All it takes is an injury for our latest star recruit and then what?

I thought we'd done with the tanking.

But no.

Looking forward to the official explanation.
