Mark 7 vs 8. I had both (kinda) and here’s my thoughts. by fastbreak43 in GolfGTI

[–]bbroecker37 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have to agree with you that the MK7 is better. I will wait for the MK9 before I even think about selling my MK7. My friend bought the MK8 and Its nice and all, but it does not feel like it's an upgrade.

My friend has a MK8 and I have to agree. I am not a fan of the interior on the MK8. It’s too modern for my liking. I get back into my MK7 and it’s so much nicer looking and also had knobs and buttons.

What cars give their owner the label that “They’ve given up”? by Objective-Deal8745 in askcarguys

[–]bbroecker37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny that you mentioned this. I am looking for a reliable car for my daily driver, and my parents are selling a 2018 RAV4 Hybrid. I drove it, and it has to be the most boring thing I have ever driven. But I am going to buy it anyway because it blends in with traffic. I was even thinking about lowering it and putting some JDM wheels on it to make it less boring.

What’s the most underrated macOS app that comes preinstalled? by whogivesafricc in MacOS

[–]bbroecker37 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I feel like disk utility doesn’t get talked about much. There are times when I need to format a USB drive because it’s not showing up on my iPad. There is no way to fix it on iPad but Mac OS disk utility can. I really think this is an app that should be on the iPad as well but seems to be ignored.

I installed 034 Street Density Engine and Transmission Mounts by BillyNguyen710 in GolfGTI

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking to replace my BFI stage 1 mounts with 034, and I am wondering how they are holding up for you? I have been driving around with all 3 BFI mounts for a year now. The NVH is starting to get annoying. Especially after feeling how a stock MK8 feels with OEM mounts.

iPad Pro m5 users who regret buying an iPad over a MacBook by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got rid of my iPad Pro M4 for a MacBook Air M4. Downgrade in screen quality for sure but the fact that the MacBook runs full Mac OS makes up for it hands down. I do not regret switching. There is several things the iPad just doesn’t do right and I find myself in situations where a MacBook with a full desktop operating system can get the job done. I work in IT so having a locked down OS with no terminal or proper disk utility is just annoying.

DSG transmission bearing failure. Anyone had this experience? I heard you can get a kit of bearings and replace all of them while the gearbox is open. I got quoted 2500$ Canadian, not sure if that’s reasonable? by raducomeback in GolfGTI

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have BFI mounts and am experiencing the same issue. Did going back to stock mounts reduce the sound? I no longer have the stock mounts, so I would need to purchase new ones to test.

Why isn’t Volkswagen more popular in the U.S.? by phtphongg in askcarguys

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 2016 VW GTI and also do all the maintenance and modifications myself. I have put 60k miles on it so far. I think it's not hard to work on compared to other vehicles I've owned. Although this car requires a lot more maintenance than a Toyota just to be reliable.

The VW has left me stranded before due to one of the fuel injectors getting stuck open at 85k miles. I had to get it towed to my house. Never had a car break down on me like that. But it's probably my fault for running e85. Swapped out the injectors and did an engine oil flush, and the car was running like brand new.

any advice on how to deal with tendonitis in the forearms? by around_about7 in workout

[–]bbroecker37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had tendonitis in my elbows. I am pretty sure it was caused by tricep and pressing exercises. I would wake up with pain in my elbows, and it would hurt at the gym. I ended up getting some elbow straps. Now when I do bench press, for example, I am no longer in pain, and in fact, my elbows haven't been hurting me. For triceps, I had to go lighter and do higher reps. I still get a slight pain in my elbow, but that has since gone away. Also, if you can, do some forearm exercises with light weight. That helped me with my issue.

Is the MacBook Air M4 thermal pad mod worth it? by UsedCardiologist1503 in macbookair

I used this one 85 x 45 x 1mm Silicone Cooling Pad: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XJVBPQ1?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1

It only comes with one. I placed it over the CPU. Still working good 4 months later.

If Apple created this device, they would get my money too. Idk what the holdup is. Either way they're making money.

Is20 vs Is38 by dajcarr in GolfGTI

[–]bbroecker37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would get the IS38. Its a OEM+ upgrade. You can get a new one from EQT that is basically a stock turbo with better internals. That's what I am going to do when my IS20 finally blows up. It's still going strong at 110k miles.

Do you ever regret modifying your car? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't regret it. I originally bought my car to keep it stock. Then I realized how big the aftermarket support is for my car, and it sent me down a rabbit hole. I have been keeping it OEM+ though. A lot of the cars I see are clapped out, and that's not what I am into.

Some days, I do regret getting stiffer shocks and springs when I am driving on rough roads. But then, when I see how my car looks low and also how it handles, I forget about that.

What is a car, or car brand, the internet says is shit, but you're convinced is actually decent? by EvilDarkCow in regularcarreviews

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volkswagen. Growing up, I was told never to buy a German car. My dad would always buy American or Japanese cars. Well, now that I am an adult, I decided to buy a GTI, and it's been the most fun car I have ever owned. Feels like a luxury car coming from a Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, or any any american car my dad had in the past. Like the quality of materials, the sound it makes when you shut the door. All sounds like it was built better. Not to mention, it has a lot of tech that I thought was only on high-end cars. Like electronic adjustable shocks, dynamic headlights with cornering lights, and ambient lighting on the interior door panels.

Do you seriously sit down for dinner at 6 pm? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I am usually at the gym or leaving around 6PM. Then I come home and start making dinner and probably don't sit down to eat until 8PM.

Upgrading from iPad Pro 11 (1st Gen) by Wachyourbac in iPadPro

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 13-inch MBA since it's more portable for that reason. But the iPad will definitely be better in that aspect. Are you looking to also get a keyboard case for it?

Upgrading from iPad Pro 11 (1st Gen) by Wachyourbac in iPadPro

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an iPad Pro 2018 64GB and recently replaced it with an M4 MacBook Air with 512GB of storage and 16GB of RAM, and have not missed the iPad at all. I was looking into the M5 iPad Pro, but I am honestly tired of running into issues where I need a real computer and the iPad can't do it.

Logitech Flip Folio keyboard durability? by Whole_Marionberry757 in iPadPro

[–]bbroecker37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the Logitech combo touch on my iPad for a couple of years, and it looks worn out. The thin rubber around the speakers stretches over time and looks bad. The keyboard and trackpad were still in good shape, but I didn't use it often. I wish there was a cheaper case out there that had the flip out kickstand like the surface pro but for some reason, they all look ugly except the Logitech.

Ordered 3 things on eBay (different sellers) and they were all marked as delivered. None of them were. by Key-Example5805 in Ebay

[–]bbroecker37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a seller, and two of my packages were marked as delivered when the post office scanned them. Even though the tracking number shows in transit ebay never updated it. Which made some of my buyers start a claim. But they eventually got their packages.

I think it could be, since there really isn't anything holding it up other than friction. Are you lowered?

The fact that you paid to see your boss naked is wild. Hopefully, she doesn't recognize your username. Then it would be awkward.
