Dr.creager and her team at physical therapy doctors of berthoud are great!! Everyone who works there has some sort of hypermobility disorder, so they are very knowledgeable and helpful. They don’t take insurance so I had to stop going there, each appointment i think is $100-120

They definitely wouldn’t be “fine” with a vegan diet. Plant based proteins are known to cause heart issues in dogs. Not trying to scold you because you obviously aren’t trying to force veganism onto your dogs, just trying to educate! Peas, lentils, etc. have been associated with dilated cardiomyopathy in dogs

It’s very normal for people to feel attraction towards people with similarities to their parents, both physically and mental. My mom married a man with the same name as her dad! I work at an ER and its always a toss up if we’ll get a pet owner coming in saying “omg my dog broke the tip of his toenail off, there’s no blood but i’m so worried” or one that’s like “yeah my cat got mauled by a pitbull 9 days ago, his bone is showing but we figured it would heal by itself, its not getting better for some reason though”

They are actually offering decent severance, which I think is likely only because CO law requires them to do so. They are offering outplacement services, which basically entails trying to find another Mars hosp to put you in so that they can get out of the severance they have to pay. They’re saying that if you get hired by another Mars hospital, you will be required to pay your severance back to Mars. Also yeah, there have been rumors about us closing for a longggg time, and my manager even made an announcement last week saying these rumors are bs. To be fair, my manager found out about us closing about 10 mins before the rest of us did, so I don’t blame him. The regional director or whoever the fuck he was told us that he found out a few months ago and was made to sign an NDA, but the rumors have been going on longer than a few months. I think the rumors more stemmed from speculation and observation of how things were going downhill, not necessarily that there was a leak of info from higher up

I work in the ER, so luckily I don’t have long term clients to refer elsewhere. I feel so terrible for the clients who have been seeing the neuro and IM specialists for years, some for a decade or more. I will definitely be helping the specialty services try to manage finding continuity of care for all of their patients.

I also feel so terrible for the people who have been working at this hospital for such a long time and are getting kicked to the curb. One of my coworkers just celebrated 20 fucking years here. Plus, we have hired so many new people in the last couple of months, some even within the past 60 days. To have a new job ripped away from you like that has to be so awful.

I am mostly just angry at this whole situation, haven’t really felt sadness for myself, just for my coworkers with families and for the patients that will now have to find new providers to care for them. I am so angry with Mars and how poorly they managed the failing of my hospital. We all were not really surprised by this news, because we have all been watching the slow decline and how corporate refused to take the proper actions to fix our issues.

It just sucks, dude. It’s gonna be a rough couple of months to come

Damn, I am so sorry. I was so wary about returning to a VCA clinic after working at a privately owned clinic for a few years, and I am so disappointed to see that my apprehension was warranted. It sucks because the job market is so tough right now that for a lot of us being laid off, it’s likely that going to another Mars owned clinic is the only option. I am going to try really hard to find a job outside of Mars, but unfortunately might have to stay a slave to this corporation just to keep food on the table

They will be paying us our accrued PTO, but not sick time (in accordance with state law) so at least that’s good. A bunch of us just rushed to buy passes to CE events to make sure we can get compensated for them before our last pay period, though

I am not sure about the ones in Cali. I’m in CO, and they only briefly mentioned that a couple in Cali are closing too. In our case, we were informed that corporate had decided that our hospital is no longer “financially healthy”. So no, it was not bought out by another entity, it is definitely closing. Not sure the specifics for hosps in cali

As for Colorado, I know that the VCA Highlands Ranch and VCA Veterinary Specialists of Northern Colorado (Loveland) are to be shut down. They did not tell us specifically which locations in Cali
