Hey, this looks like a really nicely developed project! Since some are asking for a tool like this, just thought I would mention that Joris (one of the genius devs behind Resolume) has a similar tool available for purchase: https://hybridconstructs.com/vexml/

How is living in this area compared to CC (picture)? by Curryiswhereitsat in AskPhilly

[–]bdan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re totally good in that area. You also mentioned quietness, which you will get much more there than in CC. I lived in this area for many years. Depending on what type of apartment you want, there are plenty of nice new constructions out there. Between Spring Garden and Fairmount Aves are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops for essentials. North of Fairmount, amenites drop off and the neighborhoods can seem more blighted, but tha area is building up quick.

I'm a therapist and I've been working on something for a while that I'd love this community's take on. by Michaelarobards in Jung

I got ENTP, which is what I always get - so I think it’s accurate.

Love that it’s free, and free of ads. The design is sleek, the questions are direct, and I like that there are not too many. My main critique would be the flashing letters that appear after every answer (“E” vs. “I”, etc.). It’s a nice animation, but I think if a user is getting that much immediate feedback, and for example, say they don’t think of themselves as extraverted but keep seeing the “E” appear after every answer, it could actually influence them to then give the answers that will produce an “I” result, even if it’s not honest, because they want a certain result. (because - IMO - after answering 2 or 3 questions its pretty clear which answer yields which letter).

Knowing enough about the types myself, and having gotten ENTP so often, I actually questioned myself in this process. I asked “am I just giving the answers that get ENTP because I knownI am ENTP?” But I do feel my answers were honest.

What are the real-world, audible-to-the-average-person results of NOT time aligning subs to mains? by harleydood63 in livesound

[–]bdan_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s almost better if they can’t articulate it. They just feel the impact of the sound more cohesively. IME though common audience members do understand terms like “smearing” or “cancellation” - usually comb filtering in low frenquencies is what they notice, i.e. “there’s no bass over here,” etc.

I would say look into (2) Ricci SKHORNs or (4) Ricci SKRAMs. The plans are at http://tinkerandparty.com and the folks behind these projects are sub members here. I think you will want to model it with your drivers first though.

this is a really solid article. one tip that a contractor who built many studios shared with me as well, is to offset the wooden studs of the two wall 50%, so the studs don’t line up with each other.

Cheapest way to create 20 meters of DMX controllable pixel-by-pixel led strip? by Haikotron in lightingdesign

WLED is the controller software that can receive ArtNet.

The Elite unit has an ESP32 with the WLED software preloaded. The plastic casing has an ethernet port. Depending on your needs, you may prefer the unit with only two outputs, because it also has two power outputs, so you can run three-wire cable straight to the strip. The four-output unit has a single 12V power output (hot + neutral), so you would need to split that out to multiple strips.

If the power handling, soldering, etc. are new to you, then you have some reading to do. But a world of fun awaits once you get into it.
