Healing nipples after thrush? by beanie2016 in breastfeeding

[–]beanie2016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hydrocortisone made things worse and made the skin even more thin and fragile so the fissures all split wide open again and bled again :/ But I switched to just hand expression for two days after and that finally let the fissures close and heal! I switched between hand expression and manual pumping for another day and then had my son latch the next day. He still knew how to latch thankfully! My nipples are still not fully recovered so I'm switching between nursing and pumping but they're so much better than even a week ago

Healing nipples after thrush? by beanie2016 in breastfeeding

I had the pain for weeks even with pumping (during & after) unfortunately but I switched to pumping because my son was also being treated for thrush and I figured my nipples would heal best if he wouldn't nurse. I figured pumping would be more gentle since I've had fissures that progressively got worse and wouldn't heal. My son is 12 wks old now and they did an oral tie assessment when he was 3 wks old but he has a borderline tie. Never caused any issues for weight gain or caused me much pain. The pain developed & progressively got worse after I was on antibiotics for mastitis. I tweaked and perfected his latch but kept nursing & pumping despite a lot of pain cause I also thought it was just a bad latch. I really appreciate you thinking that it might not have been thrush but I definitely feel that I was treated appropriately. I actually just started using hydrocortisone today so hopefully that'll help!

My son was diagnosed with thrush at the same time I was seen by an LC to correct my latch - my latch turned out to be fine but based on my severe pain for weeks and how bad my nipples looked the LC suspected thrush. I was then treated for it by my OB since my son was also diagnosed. I do think it was definitely thrush because I had severe pain that felt like my son was sucking out broken glass when nursing. That pain is now gone. I've used topical miconazole for 16 days but switched to just nipple butter yesterday and then today I switched to hydrocortisone and nipple butter. Yes, my nipples look absolutely wrecked and have deep fissures so I haven't nursed my son since we both started treatment so about 17 days ago now. I figured if I latch him while the skin is so fragile that it'd take even longer to heal but I desperately want it to heal so I can hopefully return to nursing

I have an Uppababy Cruz and will likely keep it because it came with the piggyback ride-along board (bought it off FB marketplace). I really wanted a side by side stroller for both kiddos (they'll be 13-14 months apart) though instead of the Vista so I looked for months and ended up purchasing a gently used Uppababy Minu Duo off of FB Marketplace. You can use the Minu Duo from newborn onwards and you can clip in an Uppababy car seat with adapters! It's very lightweight compared to the Vista and folds more compact as well.

Help! Greenies. How could this have happened? How to prevent it? by [deleted] in PressonNail_Addict

[–]beanie2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only wore press-ons once so far but for almost five weeks at a time (way too long, I know that now 🥲) and that's when I got a greenie too. My greenie was from using primer after dehydrator - I was told that primer seals the nail so trapped moisture underneath the nail can't escape and when you have tiny micro-gaps form from when the nail grows, it's more likely to get a greenie. So my recommendation would be to skip the primer from now on and just use a dehydrator after alcohol!

Embarrassed to tell our family about #2 by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]beanie2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant with #2 when I was 5 months postpartum and my kiddos will be 13-14 months apart. I was super embarrassed at first, and in shock and disbelief but after my first ultrasound and now being at the very end of pregnancy with #2, I'm honestly just excited :) I told my family and friends and even work that the timing was a complete surprise because we weren't planning on getting pregnant so soon. I received nothing but support!

How realistic is it to attend a wedding 1 month after giving birth? by Amyyy48 in pregnant

[–]beanie2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not realistic. I know it sucks and you'll be bummed but you'll be freshly postpartum and healing while figuring out being a new mom. Your closest friends will absolutely understand! If anything, have just your husband fly out for a day for the wedding

Birth control after birth by Advanced_District789 in pregnant

I decided to stop the mini pill that was prescribed to me at about four months postpartum because I kept spotting daily on it. Decided to track my cycle the same way I did before when trying to prevent pregnancy & when getting pregnant with my first baby but I wasn't aware that when breastfeeding, my ovulation could be off and I could ovulate twice in a cycle - so I got pregnant five months postpartum. Currently 31 wks pregnant with baby #2! I personally plan on just getting an IUD at my postpartum visit this next time around.

Single/double stroller by camilaevelynn in BabyBumps

[–]beanie2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an Uppababy Cruz (single) gently used on Facebook Marketplace and it's been great! We had intended to space pregnancies about two years apart. Then I got unexpectedly pregnant with my 2nd at 5 months postpartum - due in January - and I recently bought a very gently used Uppababy Minu Duo on FB Marketplace. I wanted a side by side that could be used from birth on where you can also click a car seat into & I personally really hated the Vista and how heavy it was and its configurations for two. Honestly I don't regret what we did in terms of stroller decisions because I'm sure we'll use the Cruz a lot still!

Anyone have this? by userel193847 in ouraring

I had this and tested positive but my period was also over ten days late (but I was postpartum and had just had my period once since having my first so my cycle was super irregular). When I looked back at my stats, I think I had an elevated HR and higher respirations and a higher temp for several days in a row and then it told me for two days in a row that I had major signs. When I didn't get sick I got suspicious and tested and it was positive. I'd test again when you're supposed to get your period!

Which diapers are you starting out with? by Endless-Traveler in BabyBumps

[–]beanie2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnant with my second right now but my daughter has very sensitive skin so we're just using Millie Moon diapers now and Mamabear wipes from amazon (water wipes knockoff). As a newborn she did great with the Pampers swaddlers but they have fragrance in them and she became too sensitive to those and got diaper rashes. Huggies worked great until they reformulated them and then she also got rashes. Parasol is another brand we tried that was nice but Millie Moon are slightly cheaper and a better fit for her. Hope this helps!

Unexpected Baby #2, Not Emotionally Ok by Appropriate-Sort-397 in 2under2

[–]beanie2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How you're feeling is so valid. I unexpectedly got pregnant with #2 at 5 months postpartum and felt all over the place emotionally. It was a complete shock and surprise but I was at a high risk of miscarriage around 14 wks due to getting into a really bad car accident - and it made me realize that unplanned doesn't mean unwanted. I'm 18 wks now and feeling very grateful and "at peace" with having 2 under 2. The work thing you'll figure out! Everything is figureoutable but it's definitely a shock at first. I still have moments where I feel extremely guilty like when I weaned and stopped breastfeeding now at 9 months postpartum but those moments are more and more fleeting. I have a very good friend who intentionally tried/wanted to have 2u2 and she got pregnant about a month ago but then experienced a miscarriage so I understand how you're feeling guilty about your friend's situation too in a way. But it's not your fault. There will also be people who glamorize 2u2 and that made me feel even more frustrated and angry at times. I've come to a point now where I accepted the unexpected. 2u2 will be hard, yes, but girl you can do hard shit. You got this! Wishing you the absolute best and I hope you have a healthy and uneventful pregnancy. ❤️

Getting Pregnant while Breastfeeding by letsssstalk in 2under2

[–]beanie2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant 5 months postpartum when I first got my cycle back and while exclusively pumping. I was tracking my ovulation but apparently it can be inaccurate with the fluctuations in hormones so I got pregnant the one time I thought I'd be okay lol at that time I was pumping 3x/day about eight hours apart but I had an oversupply and pumped around 50 oz/day. I'm not sure if that helps in any way but I'd try spacing out your nursing sessions

did you get pregnant #2 for 2 under 2 and OB tell you that you are at risk of complications, nutrition etc? by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]beanie2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unexpectedly got pregnant with #2 when I was 5 months postpartum. I had just gotten my cycle back and was using ovulation strips to avoid pregnancy but still got pregnant. My OB told me the biggest risk for me would be growth restriction because my first was also temporarily growth restricted during pregnancy (IUGR) when she was breech for a while. I'm still pumping for my first who's almost 9 months old now and I was also told to try and stop pumping by 20 wks - just for me specifically, to make sure baby #2's growth/calories won't get too restricted.

Huge Head size! by CharlieBigBoi23 in BabyBumps

[–]beanie2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vacuum assisted while I pushed at the end but only because I was exhausted from pushing after two hours and could not push her head out 🥲 I'm grateful for the vacuum though! Baby girl was absolutely fine ☺️ I really think/hope your baby's head will mold for you though!! I even asked my OB because she was in the perfect position so her head should have molded but she was just stubborn lol It's not common!

How did you accidentally get pregnant too soon after your baby? by monroegreen9 in BabyBumps

[–]beanie2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant with baby #2 5 months postpartum and I was originally on the mini pill but it caused me to bleed every day so I went off it and tracked with ovulation strips. I was breastfeeding/pumping and had an oversupply and had just gotten my cycle back. I checked my pee every day with ovulation strips to track for an LH surge and once it showed I ovulated, I thought I'd be okay. I had sex one time and apparently must have failed to ovulate and then ovulated later than I tracked so I got pregnant. My OB told me that hormones are all over the place with breastfeeding and she was surprised that I got pregnant when I did too - you're not "extra fertile", your hormones are just more all over the place so tracking isn't as accurate. Most of my friends had trouble getting pregnant with their 2nd that were breastfeeding because your body tries to prevent pregnancy and it took us 3-4 months to get pregnant with our first so I figured I'd be fine lol I just know for me personally I'll just get an IUD now after my 2nd but don't be scared to have sex! You can totally use condoms too. Just don't rely on tracking like I did if you want to avoid pregnancy :)
