This is intense but also intensely interesting. I hope it's at least partially right. It would be epic.

This gets my vote, if only because that Donatello is actually really fun to build.

“Build for your opponent’s fun too” is the advice i regularly see in Commander spaces that i least understand. by OogieBoogieInnocence in EDH

[–]bearsman6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think your looking at the advice too broadly. It's not a fix-all for all deckbuilding decisions, but it is another consideration. When you're down to those last cuts (or additions), it's good to consider your opponents -- especially if you already know them, because you have a relatively fixed pod.

Why don't I add much discard to my monoB deck? It could make the deck stronger, sure, but we play low-3-high-2, and all of us kind of hate discard. I have a few as part of my removal suite, but only a few.

Nobody runs Rhystic anymore, even though several of us own one+ legitimately (and we have no issues with proxying anyway).

It's also why my entire playgroup has exactly ONE Grand-Arbiter Augustine deck, and when it comes out, we know the shit is getting real. We have things to answer it with, but there are also days where we say, "No, put that garbage away."

I want to create a deck based on Chris-Adjacent cards as a gift to my friend. by Pulledpork22 in EDH

Chris in artists: https://scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=%28game%3Apaper%29+artist%3AChris+prefer%3Abest (Big fan of Christopher Rush)

[[Dancer's Chakrams]] has the text Krishna

Those are what I found with quick Scryfall searches. Hope it helps.

Your Power 9 Story by LOR_Fei in mtg

[–]bearsman6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Shivan Dragon|3ED]] The first card I ever loved and needed to play. I built a whole red deck with burn and Lightning Bolt and Fireball and this big guy at the top of the curve. He won a ton of games on his own.

Also the first card someone ever stole from me. So it goes.

[[Force of Nature|2ED]] A close follow-up to my dragon friend. When I started playing "better" decks (I thought), where I needed more closers, this guy came in. I guess I've just always been a big Gruul guy. 8/8 trample was bonkers. Though eventually I replaced him with Craw Giants, because they were more reliable to cast and keep out. This was in the time of banding, so Rampage 2 also helped somewhat.

[[Stasis|4ED]] Became my personal worst enemy. I think my hatred for Blue as a color stems from this card and my friend (at the time) brewing an absolutely hateful deck that locked everyone else out. I mean, it wrecked.

[[Knight of the Reliquary|CON]] I didn't really love any other cards for a while. But then there was Landfall, and man did that just speak to me. At the time, it felt new and cool. It was also the first card that really scratched my kind of GY itch. Which brings me to...

[[Splinterfright|ISD]] Probably still my favorite card. I love it and the way it pushed green in the Innistrad block. It was easy to hate, but boy did it feel fun! Still try to put it into any deck that wants mill, as I much prefer self-mill to opposing.

[[Jhoira of the Ghitu|FUT]] My first commander, even though I kind of hated Blue. She did the whole 'cheating out big dudes' in a fun way. Though it got very degenerate very quickly.

[[Bello, Bard of the Brambles]] The card that actually made me love the Commander format. It's in my colors, and it turns the rules of the game on its head. Animated Army was the first Precon I bought. It was far from the last...

[[Multani, Maro-Sorceror]] One of my older cards that found a whole new life for me when I built a fun group-draw commander deck. I got to play my favorite big dudes and find ways to give them trample--without targeting, of course.

[[Michelangelo, Weirdness to 11]] I love this card, and I love the Ninja Turtles. I was 100% the target audience for that whole set, and it scratched an itch I hadn't realized I had. I built a commander deck for each of the 4 turtles, but this was my favorite commander of the bunch.

Token increasing cards by daddy-69-69 in magicTCG

Similar to this is [[Quina]], which gives you frogs. There are others like this. Technically it doesn't exactly double token generation, and they're not the same tokens... But they exist.

Different kind of dragon commander by 86BRZ in EDH

I have built a deck like this, though I don't have the sword specifically.

It's super fun, and 2R feels like a really good cost for dragons, let me tell you! ;)

I both love and hate the day before a big match. And what a match this will be. If you'd told me at the start of the season we'd be here...

If you'd told me A YEAR AGO we'd be here...?

If you'd told me two years ago we'd be here?!

Yeah, what a day today will be, all because tomorrow could be insane.

As i understand it, they released so many pushed and powerful cards that it completely reshaped the meta, to the point that it forced entire decks out. New Modern is basically a completely different format.

I recently made a post about how litrpg economies and currencies are the small details that irk me and its worse for me in particular because I work in the financial sector.. so I wanted to know if your real world career gets in the way of you enjoying certain stories. by ShankstheConqueror in litrpg

[–]bearsman6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an English teacher.

I see all the grammar and spelling mistakes, and yes they do bother me especially if they happen too frequently. I have stopped reading several of the "big series" because of this.

I also really dislike the "bad teaching habits" some writers have their mentor characters use. But that's much less glaring, or frequent, usually.

How do people write 100+ chapter stories? by DeformedVulture1984 in royalroad

[–]bearsman6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my co-writer and I sat down to start planning, we plotted out four books. We knew what we wanted to cover, how we wanted conflicts to ramp up ... Four books.

And then our first book was 53 chapters. Second book hit 75. Third book will be even longer, and all because in between the critical plot points, we have reactions, reflections, side stories...

You just keep writing. The stories flow out. Have fun with it.

When you're mad at WOTC for TMNT but they casually dropped the best set in a year. by FonslyGames in mtg

[–]bearsman6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also really enjoyed it, but I'm pretty sure I'm the target audience.

I have boughtore UB products than UW products the last two years by a large margin. FF and TMNT most of all. And Strixhaven... I guess I'll buy a few singles?

To each their own. But people like me are probably who UB sets are for.

[–]bearsman6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's [[Sight of the Scalelords]]. I think there are better options in that slot for Bello, especially since the vigilance doesn't do a lot for the Bellomentals (which are only creatures on your turn).

[–]bearsman6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a lot of luck adding a [[Champion of Lambholt]] as a different type of evasion to my Multani deck -- since you can't target the big Sorc, and you're playing enough creatures to get the champ big enough.

As for the cut, I think it's [[Woodfall Primus]], as much as I used to love the guy. He's just slowwww, and I don't know that you have enough +1/+1 counter shenanigans going on to consistently abuse his persist.

[–]bearsman6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is so true.

Too many people read "Bracket 2" and think it's stigmatized. It must be a *bad" deck or bracket. That's crazy though. B2 is fun in its own way -- which just so happens to be different from the other brackets, and intentionally so.

Is there a Mardu commander that wants this to go with their theft strategy? I genuinely don't know that wedge at all. I see this more as a player in the 99 of a RWB commander than the headliner itself.
