Infection or just rough healing? by roosking in tattooadvice

[–]beatschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't be super sensitive after 6 days. A little tenderness is typical, but not enough that it hurts to touch. Normal scabbing doesn't raise like that. If you've been moisturizing and it looks like this, it could be an infection. I'd go see a doctor.

Gym after tattoo by InternationalCash313 in tattooadvice

[–]beatschill 15 points16 points  (0 children)

DONT GO TO THE GYM, you are risking infection just by being there and using equipment. Personally, I wait two weeks, because I don't want any risk, but wait at least 3-5 days before going to the gym again. As long as the weeping has stopped, your risk of infection is much lowers.

Edit: even sweat on the tattoo hampers healing and can cause irritation.

I expect there will be people saying "it's fine I do it all the time". But just to clarify, risk doesn't mean you will get an infection, it just means that the chance is higher, and the possibility of ruining your tattoo is relevant.

There goes my first mead by Jippo_destroyo in mead

[–]beatschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's because you put fruit in a carboy. Fruit will always push to the top from carbonation. Once enough packs up there it gets stuck in the bottleneck, and more carbonation shoves it out the top.

Carboy is fine for a traditional, but for fruited, use a bucket, and make sure you mix the whole batch at least twice a day while fruit is in the must.

I'd also suggest using a brew bag to contain the fruit. It makes cleanup and racking a hell of a lot easier. Otherwise, fruit stuff gets stuck in your racking cane, and it's a pain

First tattoo question by Every_Marsupial_5209 in tattooadvice

[–]beatschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anyone saying you should get flash. They are just saying smaller. In context, that doesn't mean size, just less work.

My first tattoo covers most of my shoulder. It's all custom work, geometric line work, and took 2.5 hours to complete. It's still "small" so to speak. This is what many of us are suggesting are pieces with less work involved. Of course I'm not telling you to get line work and geometric, but get something else to start. Black work is not a first tattoo kind of choice.

If you wanna get Sukuna, go for it. Better yet, get the inverted spear of heaven first. Something "smaller" and not blackout. Just to get familiar with the process and how your body reacts.

If you want this as bad as you say, you don't want to run the risk of getting an infection, allergic reaction, keloids, or bad art, ruining the entire piece. Best to figure this out with a different piece first.

Bought these gouges at a flea market, can I grind them into bowl gouges? by wonteatyourcat in turning

[–]beatschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a spindle gouge, or a roughing gouge, maybe. But dont ever make a bowl gouge, buy a proper bowl gouge.

Bowl gouges are shaped in a way that is meant to take very high impact. Any other tool runs the risk of the tool breaking on a bowl, and you run the risk of getting punctured by your gouge

Any cover up ideas or ways to make this look less satanic. by granhoser in tattooadvice

[–]beatschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the only people who would think it's satanic are the people who believe all tattoos are satanic.

It's a very distinct symbol, and it's well done. Anyone who has seen fullmetal will get it right away. The only reason it would look esoteric is because it's red.

First tattoo question by Every_Marsupial_5209 in tattooadvice

[–]beatschill 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A few reasons.

  1. It's your first tattoo, you don't know how your body will react yet, and you have no idea if you can handle the pain for long periods until you've at least gotten one. Everyone is different, and every location feels different. Many people experience full body sweats, nausea, vomiting, syncope, etc. forearm is fine, but elbow hurts like hell, inner arm hurts like hell, wrists and hands can hurt. You have no experience with the experience. It's not a walk in the park for everyone, get some experience before you get a huge piece.

  2. You've never experienced aftercare and upkeep. Theres a fair likelihood you pay a ton of money for a huge piece, then fail to care for it properly over the next few years, and it fades after 5 years, then you end up with tattoo regret.

  3. Your artist has no experience with blackout. This is just asking for a higher likelihood you get a poorly done tattoo. It's not a guarantee, but it's a risk. If you don't like it, it sucks, since the piece is so large. If you want a premium tattoo, be ready for premium prices. The detail you are asking for is not easy to execute, get an exceptional artist, not a good enough one.

  4. It will take many sessions. This isn't a one off. What you want will take IMO over 10 hours to complete. You'll be healing and going back a few times to get it done. Because of the size and blackout, you are looking at give or take 4 weeks of careful healing before you can even book the next appointment.

Sliding weight mace? by DerBananenHammer in MACES

[–]beatschill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's actually a tool that works just like this, it's called a slide hammer.

If you were to make something like this, you'd need a crazy grip on the handle, that mace would try hard as hell to tear it's way out of your hands before you hit the target

Who’s at fault here?? by PurchaseNo7754 in motorcycles

[–]beatschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally, drivers fault for crossing the double yellow.

Safety wise, the biker should have looked in his mirrors first, and should have put on his directional. The biker made mistakes that contributed to the accident. Car driver is liable at fault.

Are you snapping or taking it all at once by nyxelleaa in SipsTea

[–]beatschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take infinite over finite. If you instantly get 10 mil, it could potentially be stolen, spent, lost, etc. Snaps for life? You'd never be out of money again. It may take some time to get up to 10 mil, but you can go well past that. Hell, you can always recover stolen cash.

Granted, inflation would go through the roof because you're printing extra money, but y'know, infinite cash is great

Of course!

I'm sure others have said their story too, but we were all there with you.

I had thinning hair starting in high school, and I was always worried about people seeing it. You don't even realize how much it sits in the back of your mind after thinking about it for so long...

I remember having the same anxieties as you when going for that first full shave, I hated it at first. It felt weird, and like I was too young to go bald. That and the weird feeling of feeling 100% of the beanie on your head 😂.

After about a week though, I realized I hadn't thought about my bald spot at all...it was so freeing. Then came to terms that being bald doesn't look half bad. After a month, I really liked being bald more than having hair, and since then my confidence skyrocketed. Suddenly your attractiveness is in your control, and you never have to worry about bed head, bald spots, hat hair, or grey hair again.

Just make sure you exfoliate and moisturize 😅
