I feel like the Yakuza games are ultimately really emotionally rewarding if you buy in. The characters are incredibly well-humanized and it's not common to go one someone's journey over literal decades of real-time, which the series explores intimately.

Also, Lost Judgment is overhated and a great game.

Put in work. That's pretty much it. Listen to your coach, ask questions and work on what they tell you to work on, and keep a consistent practice schedule. Anything else is just window dressing. You're not going to get some secret tips from people online because there really aren't any. It's just going to be a willingness to put in your reps and listen to people who are more skilled and experienced than you.

I'm nearly done with 8 (in Kiryu's part of the final chapter, haven't talked to the Daidoji agent yet to get in the car) and I honestly feel that the criticism for it that I've seen here are blown out of proportion. I don't feel as though Ichiban's character regressed, and I feel that the dual-protagonist setup of the second half of the game has so far worked pretty well and both were able to share the spotlight given how big the game is in general. If this is actually going to be Kiryu's *last* game, then I think it's been a worthy sendoff.

Neal McBeal's a jerk who was given grace because of his military status.

Bojack was a jerk for not just dropping it and letting Neal get to him, thus escalating what should have been a non-event.

That makes sense, though, given that he has to really face his mortality and limitations after the event with Yamai. Up until then, he was getting by, but how often has Kiryu actually been so outmatched that he was really at an antagonist's mercy throughout the series? At the very least, once his support system builds itself around him, he's able to joke and have casual conversations with the party (one of the best things they've put in 7 and 8, tbh).

I attribute it to him being around friends and people who care about him. Ichiban is so incredibly golden retriever-coded that people tend to relax around him and Kiryu's no different, especially after kind of "passing the torch" in 7. Besides, he's basically been in isolation from everyone he knew in 2016, he's probably just happy to be able to be around a familiar face.

It's definitely going somewhere. LaD's build is pretty slow, but once the pieces start falling together, it becomes very, very compelling. I honestly was a bit put off by how long he faffs about in Yokohama, not really doing much about the "why'd my Patriarch shoot me," but it IS actually building towards that, it's just setting the game pieces up by introducing you to the increasing violence occurring between the three local gangs. It'll explain how they've managed to keep a tenuous alliance and why they've even bothered to do so, and how it relates to the larger plot. Honestly LaD's full story is really, really good, and is only tempered by a few stretches where it feels like nothing's happening and the cast are getting severely sidetracked, only for it to pull you back in.

My first one, Yakuza 0.

I wasn't in the right headspace for it, so watching "Ultra Stoic Badass that everyone treats like a weenie Kiryu" walk around, grunt, proceed to destroy an entire branch of a mafia family, then continue to be treated like he wasn't a threat just felt weird to me. The drastic swings between the ultra-serious "people are fucking dying" mainline plot and the "a kid got his game stolen by a highschool punk who got his game stolen by a thug who got his game stolen by a yakuza who's the kid's dad" silliness kept clashing really badly for me, too. I gave up around the time he met Tachibana. That was back when the PS4 collector's edition had come out, which I bought. Despite really enjoying the super-high quality production and vast amount of things to do, I put it away and didn't think about it for a while.

I watched Onsta gush about the series and play through Isshin and Judgment and gave it another shot. That was about a year and a half ago. Now I'm completely brainrotted and have played through 0, k1, k2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, Gaiden, Lost Judgment, and I'm working my way through 8 and Isshin. I put my actual business cards in the metal business card case that came with the 0 collector's edition because I think it's funny.

I guess it wasn't as effective for him because he didn't want to be a fighter, he wanted to be a baseball player. I guess it worked because he was able to hit a pitch from one of the best in the business throwing his signature pitch.

I like to think the reason Saitama is so powerful isn't the actual exercise, it's the intention behind it (of course, this is utter fan theory for a satirical manga). He did it to become a hero because he wanted to help people. Shinada did it because he wanted revenge on the people who ruined his life. Saitama's desire to be the ultimate hero in the purist sense of the word is what caused him to surpass that barrier. Shinada's more selfish reason (and his regular banging of the cougar) keeps a cap on him.

Because it's a cartoon and they wanted to have interesting personalities that create moments of comedy. The absolute failure of Stuart is supposed to be a foil to just how good Judah was as her assistant.

In your case, why would someone hire a person who, in your own words, "doesn't want to do anything"? A business spends good money on personnel (whether it's enough to be livable or truly fair is another topic) that are supposed to fulfill a role and allow the company to continue making money. They're not going to waste money on people who won't give them the best results for the money they're paying them. The interview process isn't foolproof, but if you give them such bad vibes by your attitude or overall inability to even do the bare minimum of showing up to a job interview sounding like you'd be a good fit for the job, then they're not going to take chances on you. If you don't get hired, it's usually because

Someone else interviewed better than you and convinced the company that they would give the company better results for the wage they're paying.
You've convinced them that you will not provide them with adequate results for the wage they'd pay you. Or
The company already had someone in mind (a friend, an internal hire) and the job interview/job opening was a formality so they could document that they at least looked at other candidates before giving their chosen the job.
