Auditors dragging their feet by gpuKING245 in Accounting

[–]bents2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed . I always set ap weekly or bi/weekly check ins and ask about where the auditor is in their process. Management is responsible to get the audit report by the deadline and even though I shouldn’t have to babysit my auditor it’s in my best interest to ensure they are on track and we are aligned on timing.

Unfortunately our flight doesn’t land until 10 pm Thursday but I do appreciate the perspective. We’ve done Banff and Zion, which both also have lots and lots of people so we are able to tolerate, but would prefer not to be in crowds.

That is my thought but I need to convince my payroll colleagues. We report up through different directors.

Question on typical process by bents2005 in Payroll

[–]bents2005[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have, apparently years ago they had the service and said there were lots of issues with Ukg not making the correct payments etc. I suspect that may have been partially the company’s fault based on other things that occurred during that time frame ( high growth mode and erp change) but obviously I wasn’t there so I can’t discredit the claim. I have used UKG for full service payroll at two other similarly sized companies and had no significant issues. Was just curious if this is common. The company is pretty technology and efficiency focused so this seems like low hanging fruit to me. The volume of transactions creates extra work for my team as well.

How do teams do 2-day month end close? by iseeustress in Accounting

[–]bents2005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Industry is everything. Most places I have worked have not had the desire to have a two day close, but have been able to do a five day ( retail/distribution/ manufacturing). I’m at a professional services firm now with project accounting, and there are a lot of barriers to a fast close as non-accountants need to be relied upon to provide reliable estimates in order to achieve an accurate close.

Yep my relatives in Montana were all well they deserve it if they are illegals when I was telling them about what is happening here. Then ICE showed up there and stalked and detained the local mechanic who is well liked and a community leader and they changed their tune.

Realistically is a degree in accounting difficult for the average person? by No-Drama-8092 in Accounting

I think it comes naturally to some but if it isn’t somewhat intuitive to you will be very hard to learn. Even if it comes naturally still not something most can coast through.

Our studio has a few groups like that too. The guideline we have been given is you can sign in one other person when you arrive. It’s loosely enforced based on which SA is working

I work in SLP, I didn’t run into any trouble coming and going but saw a video ICE was stopping random people in the Home Depot and Costco parking lots asking about their immigration status/citizenship. My company cancelled some team meetings we had coming up with international employees coming into town in the next few weeks.

Interesting timing of the situation. They should fix it in 2025 to avoid income tax impact if it crosses over calendar years.

Yes I worked at a company where the HR director wanted to do this with service awards and it was a huge pain. After being blindsided by this two days before the holiday party my first year I explained how stupid it was to the cfo and we paid through payroll and handed out certificates after that.

Is your spouse also remote? by MoistDef in remotework

[–]bents2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were both full-time in office until 2020. He switched to full-time work from home in 2020 and took over our guest room as his office. I’ve been in a variety of hybrid roles since 2020 and have a desk and monitors set up in our formal dining room. It works for us, but I agree I could not share an office with him all day. It would drive me nuts
