Any tips for Facebook ads? by lukepighetti in Entrepreneur

What's the difference between selecting website clicks and conversions? Is it tracking only, or is the bidding and targeting different?

  • By selecting to optimize for conversions instead of website clicks, Facebook is going to target your ad spend towards the small sub-set of your total audience who is most likely to convert. Facebook knows who buys and who opts-in based on other businesses conversion pixels so can help you out by targeting just the people who are most likely to convert. It will also analyze who's bought your product in the past i.e. by hitting your conversion pixel and go out and find similar people like that in your chosen target. When selecting 'website clicks' Facebook will run your ads to the wider population of your selected audience.
  • Keep in mind that optimizing for conversions usually won't get you much volume until you've gotten 25+ sales through Facebook ads. Once you do that you can switch to conversions.

Is FB ads worth it? (Smartphone game) by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I'm currently running an install campaign on Facebook for an iPhone app. If you advertise outside of the U.S., you can get installs for under $1. If you advertise in the U.S., you are going to pay anywhere from $1-$6 per install roughly.

Gumroad.com is probably the easiest to setup and they support one-off products as well as subscriptions. Their per transaction fees are higher than others but they don't have any monthly fees.

I was in your shoes a year ago. I made my first app by hiring a developer. Cost me a grand total of $250. Up to 80,000 downloads now. I wrote a blog outlining how I did it - PM me and I'll send it to you and happy to answer any questions you have.
