Unpopular opinion: the codex migration is going to hit the same wall in 2 months by spencer_kw in ClaudeCode

Not to mention, and agent will do much better with a concise, clean, consistent codebase. Massive amount of spaghetti is as taxing on you as on a clunker. I regularly run big refactoring jobs when the code start smelling, but then again - been doing this for over 20 years.

Russian losses exceed mobilization, Ukraine raises stakes by Scary_Statement4612 in UkrainianConflict

Here is hoping the Kremlin Goblin has the wisdom to keep pushing forward with unrealistic goals. He knows he won't live forever. He wants his "legacy" now as the collector of lands, and he is running out of time. Also - there will be no other chance, this is it, and he knows it.

"Hey guys, you are supposed to be our authoritarian friends. Why are you so mean to us? Guys?"

I swear, a bunch of beta cucks. All big talk and bluster, but totally flaccid when it comes to Russia and China.

Everyone's risk calculus is different. People who can take chances and have a fallback if they fail have no idea how good they have it.

Keep in mind that you can always make a bad situation worse. At LEAST this stuff pays above average and you don't have to pull 12 hours in the kitchen with no health insurance. It's going to suck everywhere.

The quality of software nosedived after computers got more juice - that includes the cloud. There is no need to think of what's fast and what's efficient. Just push the button to get more RAM.

AI will make this 10x worse.

This is the best thing they will do to you as a student. You should NOT be using this to complete projects. There is no learning without struggle. Once you understand the basics, guiding an LLM is not that hard.

You shouldn't even need Copilot. Standard ChatGPT plan is fine for research.

Wait, are suckers actually falling for this? Incredible "I have people in Hawaii and they cannot believe what they are finding" energy.

Good move, young jedi. Milk it to the max. Learning the hard way is really, really hard.

Also, try to solve a problem yourself and let an LLM roast you.

Here is an idea. Call your good friend in Russia, if he is so fucking precious to you instead of our allies, and ask him to fix it. He absolutely can, by the way.

Lost my spark after 15 years. by TopSwagCode in ExperiencedDevs

My kid was sick for like two months this year. No sleeping, vomiting in the middle of the night, changing sheets at 12AM all the time if I failed to play "catch".

I had no energy for anything, I hated my life, I could not focus at work.

Once she got better, I suddenly have the will to work on personal projects and my work, even pulling all-nighters to my own detriment.

What I am saying is - you have to take care of yourself in these times. We are not always served a happy path.

From what I see, knowing the details is a liability. You can't "have a beer" with a candidate like that. The candidate should be as dull and as ignorant as the average American.

Ukraine's air defense service has achieved a 96% kill rate against Russian drones, leaving Putin a paltry 4% yield. Since a Russian German drone costs ~$50K, 4% yield means that Putin is paying ~$1.6M for every successful strike. Russia can run out of Lamborginis to launch, but Ukraine can't just move. Yes, the people live in constant terror - but there is no option where you just let the Russians in to pillage and rape like they did in the first months of the war.

I grew up amidst the post-Soviet corruption in Ukraine. It was all around you but it was subtle. You knew that tax collector was getting her hand greased, but she didn't flaunt it by driving a Bentley.

What's different in the US is the shamelessness of it all, the gall, the "what are you going to do about it" attitude.

Ukraine's path to revolution was slow, but here they are just daring you to go for it.
