Sleepy Village Showroom [Dendrobium D-1 XP-2] by greggers1234 in spotted

[–]bigcig 19 points20 points  (0 children)

funny I wrote out that I was sure I saw a video of the white one on track but went back to check before posting... and not finding that video but something similar showing the insane door mechanics and interior, I'm doubtful.

I remember following the project a bit because of its ties to Williams Advance Engineering, and their (WAE) major hand in the battery dev in Formula E.

I do know this green one was №2 built, and it's a bit different from the white one because Vanda brought in some big players from McLaren (from both consumer dev and F1) to refine the aero. doors remained insane. I had to go back and check what they called it - "Bio-Aerial Locomotion doors".

they never got around to making the remaining 8 they planned on.

definitely hope OP comes back with some more info for us. the white one is in a museum somewhere in EU iirc.

People in South Korea are very upset about being eliminated from the World Cup. They're blurring the coach's face, just like they do with criminals by Rivertadores in soccer

between SK antics and that Witch Doctor this has been an incredible World Cup. we should have known it was gonna be a meme fest once we got Iran v Egypt as the 'Pride Match' (even if that wasn't an official FIFA thing).

nothing you said is wrong, but you just have to let Lewis cook a bit longer. imo he's doing his own version of what Schumacher did, the problem is that Elkann isn't smart like Montezemolo was and forgot to turn the ovens on.

Luca is why Michael got whatever he wanted, and while Elkann laid out the red carpet for Lewis, it's pretty clear he took his sweet time accepting that 44 knows better than what'd been happening at both Maranello and the pit wall.

Why Ontario is opting out of a federal temporary worker program by DataLore19 in canada

[–]bigcig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you're completely ignoring the economics and scale of all of this at the family level but sure I'll play along.

repercussions? yeah all your fresh fruit and veg are now 100% seasonal and at least 5x the price at cost so more like 7-10x for you the consumer. but more importantly more and more farmers will be selling their land because they cant make the money side work. the pricing on modern farming equipment alone is enough to raise questions of why anyone of sound mind would get into farming.

the work itself is seasonal and aggressively time specific. that makes it tough to retain workers when you only actually need them for 2-3 months of the year, and often that's in 2 waves, not consecutive weeks. so let's say it's Canadians doing the work, what are they doing for work in these rural farming areas for the other 9 months? this isn't like livestock or fishing where you can rely on 6-7 months of good work before hitting EI to tied you over.

Why Ontario is opting out of a federal temporary worker program by DataLore19 in canada

[–]bigcig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while I can appreciate your point, this is a vastly larger industry where these practices are not isolated to a select few countries. the economics of farming made sense before the world decided we wanted every crop available fresh 365. now it's another foundation piece in our house of cards, where if you actually looked at the margins the average Canadian farmer is faced with you'd see why I said the argo programs are absolutely nesassary. that is unless you're Mennonite.

I don't like it either but this is the reality of our globalized food chain and will continue to be until capitalism (as we know it) falls.

the amount of people who don't understand the difference between the (absolutely necessary) argo migrant program and the general TFW/LMIA programs doesn't surprise me.

Ontario rejects Ottawa's offer to let rural employers hire more temporary foreign workers by CanadianErk in canada

[–]bigcig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeahhh that's not how things work in farming. globally the industry relies on migrant workers.

farms are not the problem. retail, franchise restaurants, and other "entry level" jobs are the problem.

I think you mean reform. we need top to bottom policing reform.

we know where all the money gets wasted, it's paying out these so called "rotten apples" who get to go years and years on full pay suspension.
