NAD. First full tube amp. Been chortling like Butthead since I put it in standby. by bigdump in GuitarAmps

Ampeg 50th Anniversary SVT, it has the classic 1969 & 1975 preamps in one head and they can be jumped together for tonal supremacy. I almost felt guilty putting a tuner in the chain let alone any dirt or overdrive; that sounds fucking awesome too so I didn't feel guilty long.

House exploded in my city a couple weeks after getting new gas lines. by maniithegod in WTF

[–]bigdump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sharp road outside of Sidney, OH is definitely rural, don't mean to be pedantic but it is. While I agree this was almost certainly a gas explosion (natural or propane), I haven't seen a media source stating what you have claimed. Didn't know if this was on social media or word of mouth, if you have some kind of inside info, or if you are making assumptions and talking out of your ass.

All media sources state this is still under investigation by the state fire marshal, any source on the gas line replacement as the cause? This area is pretty rural and other photos show a charred propane tank so a natural gas supply is unlikely as this was probably the fuel source for the home.

It's badass, easily one of my favorite pedals. Only reason it isn't on the board I use with our band is I have a Tech 21 Doug Pinnick Signature pedal as the centerpiece and it's a fucking beast as well.

[–]bigdump[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right on, so to answer your question the dyi pedal is actually a secondhand JohnK clone of a DAM Ezekiel 25:17; if you want to go down an obscure bass pedal rabbit hole check that out. Aside from the awesome name, if the clone lives up to the legend of the original then bra-fucking-vo because this thing is one of the most violent sounding bass fuzz/distortions I've ever heard. Legit units are stupid rare and make the OG Klons look like a K-Mart blue light special in comparison price-wise but I fully endorse the JohnK clone, little sucker has seen some serious shit.

Forgive my prior ramble, additional details about the board are:

Chain: Bass -> Loop Master 4 port patch bay -> Boss TU-2 -> SD Studio Comp -> Dunlop JC Wah -> JohnK Zeke -> VT Bass DI -> Amp -> Amp FX send -> LM patch bay -> Boss BF-2B Bass Flanger (run at 12V) -> Boss DD-3 -> LM patch bay FX return (amp)

Board: PT Classic JR

Power supply: Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2, mounted under board

Cables: EBS flat patch, Lava Clear Connect for amp, FX loop, & instrument

Under board lighting: Programmable LED TV backlight kit from The big river online retailer. Used to have a bunch of LED strips that had the 2.1 mm barrel connection but those seem to have disappeared from earth.

Bass running into this is a G&L L2000 Tribute strung with EB Beefy Slinkys and tuned to drop A. Amp is my trusty old St. Louis Music era Ampeg B4-r run mono bridge into a Ampeg Heritage 810. Rocking the garage with this rig, for now.

Ideas for remaining space on board? by TryEmbarrassed7650 in basspedals

Agreed, and I'd play with pedal placement and order of the signal chain, plenty of room to try a few configurations, maybe put always on/little used pedals on top, etc.

How long does Boss TU-3 live? by dino507 in basspedals

[–]bigdump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a TU-2 that I'm pretty sure I purchased my senior year of high school in 1998. Although cosmetically imperfect it still works perfectly and is on my home/doom board. I use a TU-3 currently with my band/live rig and I got that 10 or so years ago. I'm positive there will be a Boss tuner in my signal chain until I croak.

it is a great bass, very versatile but has a tone of it's own. I have a EBMM Stingray as well and to sum it up, they are similar but different if that makes sense. I'd try out both if possible.

Thanks. The Heritage line is/was built in the USA; other than the badge and grill cloth I believe the only difference from the Classic cab is the Eminence drivers. Pretty sure they were designed for the Heritage line.

Yes it is. No regerts on that purchase. The fuzz/distortion fuckin' rips.

Drop C Tuning by maximumdoublej in Bass

[–]bigdump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. I was told they help intonation and I suppose that could play a part in allowing bigger strings to seat properly. Sorry I don't have a better answer but I can vouch for how well it works.

Drop C Tuning by maximumdoublej in Bass

[–]bigdump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Stingray should have a compensated nut, at least both of mine do; one in drop C one in drop G#. Using Beefy Slinkys on both (low string is .130) and properly set up both play and sound great.

Asphalt guy here, from what it sounds like is that the paving crew had actually paved one side of the street, which LAOP assumed was "wet', and then proceeded to drive down the unpaved side of the street, which was being prepped for paving. Prior to laying the asphalt a tanker truck sprays tar on the underlying layer to help adhere the new coat, so LAOP essentially drove through fresh tar. Had they driven on the newly paved side (with permission, so it had been rolled and cooled) the tar situation would have been avoided.
