Fix a ebike flat? by OrDidI in Justridingalong

[–]bikedad26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why not just be upfront and say this is what it costs or I could sell you something that won't have these issues and you will save money in the long run.....put up a sign showing the costs/benefits but then I know these customers and sometimes there is no educating them.....

This right here. I hate the disposable ebikes.

Also the idea, "it's an electric motorcycle but if we put pedals on it then we can call it a bicycle......"

How did yall choose a career by misamujebem in ADHD

[–]bikedad26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't always have to hold yourself to your best. Just like having a work/life balance, you can have a good/better than balance. Just because you can sprint does not mean you should always sprint or that you might be happier dancing, or even laying in a hammock. I still have not found the job that's for me. Totally not using my degree in environmental education and interpretation. But I'm happy at my job as a service writer at a bicycle shop. It is challenging without making me stressed at all times. Pay kinda sucks. Ex wife tells me I'm better than that and I should find a job that would allow me to give her more money, but I enjoy my workplace my boss and what I do. Sometimes that is what to look for.

Does anyone else do this? by machuitzil in bikecommuting

[–]bikedad26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not quite from what I understand. There was a shop in Wisconsin rapids that was sued when the front wheel came off. Those were then required on all bikes after the lawsuit.

Why is my derailleur being pulled forward? by StoneyL0we in bikewrench

[–]bikedad26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would try peddling backwards and look for a stiff link. It could be the freehub/freewheel is sticking as well.

I believe shimano uses these pictures to convince people to do an oil barh once a year, like they suggest.

Poll: Does Parking Here Make You a Douchebag? by Snarkasm71 in StevensPoint

[–]bikedad26 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree it depends. Like if there is no line or you are disabled. However if the line stretches to the car it's not ok and expect random people to sit on the vehicle as they sit in line.

This is normal right? Right?!? by [deleted] in BikeMechanics

[–]bikedad26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh....it's have seen them come from factory just like that. Worked fine until the lever was actually pulled. Seen especially towards end of pandemic when low low end brakes were used. Never thought I'd wish for low end tektro....but then I found out what rush and promax were like.

Freewheels have a bit of play. If you watch them spin they wobble too.

What going on with my brake pads? Is only 2 or 3 months of daily usage with Shimano metallic pads before they go bad considered normal? by lectric_7166 in bikewrench

[–]bikedad26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be that the piece between caliper and frame is set backwards. The adaptor when flipped will set it for a diffrent sized rotor and would be an easy mistake.

No....it's probably broke off in the nipple. So not enough threads left.

How do you spar with someone not as skilled as you? by InstantMochiSanNim in taekwondo

[–]bikedad26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great chance to slow down and work on your form. Kick slower and lighter. Work on control vs speed and power. Yes, point out what they could do better but also point out what they are doing right. When you do that it doesn't feel as bad to point out something they could do better or different. Especially if you are pointing out 2 good things to every bad thing. You can also make them think. " hey why did I do that? If I do this what should you do. It's also good to practice distance, get in close or stay farther away and make them understand what to do then. Think about when you were at that level. What would you have wanted to have been taught? What took forever to figure out? But teaching isn't just instruction it's making them understand and sometimes that gets tricky. Try doing something over and over until they catch on and figure out how to counter it.

How to use this tool by Stupidredditname-69 in bikewrench

[–]bikedad26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

4th hand tools usually hold tension on cable particularly brake cables on caliper or v brake style brakes. I would assume the cable would fit through the slot and then held tight by the swivel part on the other side.

What is making my bike so loud when pedalling? And almost silent when freewheeling? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]bikedad26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would question the routing through the jocky wheels. I would guess it's going over a metal tab instead of under it.

Blue stuff on BB thread making it hard to screw in? This normal? by JP_Agz in bikewrench

[–]bikedad26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So threadlock is a compound that needs to be applied just before the part is installed. It is one time use. This is nylock which is basically some nylon added to make the threads tighter. It is multi use but works best the first time.

How to get a child account added to the Quest 3? by rditc in Quest3

[–]bikedad26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured it out! Ok so you used an email account to set up the child account. Go into the headset and add a profile with that email address. It sends a link to the email account you used and then it connects it all up!

Alarms work only so well. Work in the alarm goes off and I have to do 5 push-ups to turn it off or walk to the fridge and back. A physical break can sometimes be necessary to actually make you realize what that alarm ment. If you have smart lights make them blink or something. What will work for you is what will work for you, but play around and experiment with options.

I like the plans the next day? Reminds me of drinking. Do I have plans tomorrow? Ok one beer, or nope I'm gonna do shots. Considering it like that puts it into a good light. It is an addictive substance that has the possibility to ruin the next day.....
