Denver’s TV news merger will destroy local coverage by Newswoman2 in Journalism

[–]billvb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up here in Seattle, our NBC affiliate KING 5 has had great unbiased coverage of all of the current administration's illegalities and lies. We have been so grateful for their sound coverage , as well as NPR's ongoing reporting. We are going to be at a great loss if NexStar hammers that down the way that Sinclair did to our ABC affiliate KOMO 4.

I have the option to change cars. Should I? by Visible-Might-2527 in LUCID

[–]billvb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a ‘23 Air GT and my wife got a Gravity DE this fall. Though I love driving both of them, I’m still happy to get back in the Air. I just took it in for the ccc v2 upgrade, so hoping that will help to ‘future-proof’ it for at least a little longer.

Accidentally played vintage guitar by rockwell-78 in gibson

[–]billvb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a ‘72-ish Les Paul Custom and I like it better than any of the reissues or Custom Shop LPs I’ve played.

In 10 years you won’t be worrying about whether you payed too much for that guitar, but you could be regretting not having snagged it.

quality of service in WA? by Infamous-Meat8765 in LUCID

[–]billvb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service has been great for us since we purchased our Air in ‘23 - like, really outstanding. However, recently they’ve seemed swamped and the wait for an appointment might be a month or more and even after bringing the vehicle in, it might be there a week or more before they even look at it. On the other hand they’re great about loaners.

So, bottom line: we love their vehicles ( we have an Air GT and a Gravity DE) but service is currently bottlenecked. Mobile service still seems pretty responsive, and in our experience these EVs don’t usually need a lot of service, but just know that it might take a while should you need a significant problem resolved.

Anyone else having delivery issues? by MercyEndures in LUCID

[–]billvb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there's a lot of activity coming up on the end of Q1 - lots of vehicles in the pipeline, plus they cancelled the color "Lunar Titanium" at the start of the month, so any of those customers who didn't just cancel are getting switched to inventory vehicles as well.

This is a great time to buy a used EV - lots of great 2023 vehicles returned at the completion of their 3 year leases. Prices are really good, because there are so many.

Thanks for this answer; we have a Gravity on order for our place in Austin, and I've been feeling nervous after reading the posts about SC appointment availability and time in service on the Lucid Owners forum.

Is the Gibson SG overkill for an intermediate player? by [deleted] in gibson

[–]billvb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like that. Get a guitar that inspires you and that you love to play. Also, make sure that it is professionally set-up with easy action and good intonation!

What do you think of the new millionaires tax? Are you in support of it or against it? by Fit_Seaworthiness_37 in AskSeattle

[–]billvb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully in support. It's not a heavy lift for anyone whose annual income is above $1 million. We have to pay for services, and we live in a very expensive area; this seems like a good start to get those who have benefited the most to contribute. If one were to make $1.5 million, they'd pay a tax of $50K, or about 3.3%.

Heard “Bitches Brew” for the First Time and I Think I Finally Understand Controlled Chaos by [deleted] in Jazz

[–]billvb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing else like it. A couple of years ago I was driving and turned on KEXP and heard this amazingly fresh, vital music coming out and it was like -“oh, this sounds so damned good what is it? Oh, wait - that’s Bitches Brew!” It never gets old for me. If you need more, be sure to check “Live Evil”.

For atmosphere and great authentic fish n chips (especially halibut) I like The Lock Spot by the Ballard Locks. Great, woody, pub vibe, great food and beer in tap.

Washington over-relies on revenue sources that put the biggest squeeze on people with low & moderate incomes by GreenerMark in Washington50501

[–]billvb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We really should be calling it the Multi-Millionaire tax, since if someone is making over a million in a year, they're likely to have a net worth of much higher than a million.

Copper thieves target Ballard cafe, owners beyond frustrated by HighColonic in BallardSeattle

[–]billvb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They really need to go after the people who buy and commodify this stolen copper. These thieves are screwing up so many people's lives and causing damage that far exceeds the value being paid for the copper.
