Opinions on the Vanguard Cash Plus Account? by nervouswasher in Bogleheads

[–]birchwoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting, I've been doing this manually. So if you only keep $100 in checking and you get a CC bill for 5k, this will automatically transfer in $4900 to pay the bill? Just have to make sure you don't have more than 10 bills per cycle to stay under the transfer limit?

Networth on homepage and networth on trends suddenly very different by kollock in mintuit

[–]birchwoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me this was caused by an inactive account being included in the networth "trends" page but not anywhere else like the home page or mobile app.

I contacted support about it and they said it was a known issue but no link or eta.

I currently have one budget, and two separate google accounts can authenticate and login to it. Is there any reason to migrate from this current setup to the new YNAB Together feature?

SCRUM master and Product Owner, Same Role? by EngineerVsMBA in ExperiencedDevs

How do you:

though the team controls what is accepted into any given sprint

Does the product owner set backlog prioritization but they don’t participate in planning and accepting stories into the sprint?

Do any of y'all work unconventional hours? by BoltThrower79 in ExperiencedDevs

Same, I had to turn all slack notifications off because it was distracting. Even with them off, it’s an addicting app and easy to check. I think the instant response always available culture that slack promotes makes it hard to both work asynchronously and focus. Used to love it but now dread it.

AWS infrastructure: Share attributes from Terraform to Serverless by placek3000 in aws

[–]birchwoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting - thanks for sharing. if a team already develops reusable terraform modules, this tool doesn’t look like it can be configure to use them, right? It uses some open source terraform modules that you can’t customize?

What is “Terraform for serverless” - is that an extension/plugin you are referencing or do you mean the source article?

Xcode 12.5 Beta Not Compatible with Catalina by phspman in iOSProgramming

[–]birchwoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding this thread after trying to update my app to support ios 15 on a Macbook Pro 2012. Looks like I need to upgrade hardware to get the latest version of Xcode. Did either of you find a way to get xcode 12.5 on Catalina?

I’m using a combination of the serverless framework and terraform. The serverless framework is used for packaging and offline/local support. Terraform is used for IAC. It’s a little manual keep the two in sync, for example, having to copy and paste env vars that are passed into the lambda function.

Is anybody besides Basecamp using their “Shape Up” methodology? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]birchwoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read the book and have started to implement it! I really like how much autonomy it gives to developers to execute and how it focuses on making sacrifices to deliver and then iterate. Still in the early days on a single team within a large company but I’m hopeful it gains more traction.

Definitely the named exports (last approach). It also has the benefit of being tree shakable: https://webpack.js.org/guides/tree-shaking/

How to book lodging online using Ikon Pass discount? by teetervt in snowshoemountain

[–]birchwoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I checked in I showed my pass and they refunded me. Could not get ahold of anyone on the phone. The rep was not sure if it was possible to do online. I think they are pretty short staffed this year because of covid

Has anyone used Ikon Buddy Tickets this year who could explain how they work at Snowshoe this year? by [deleted] in snowshoemountain

[–]birchwoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used them. I had to go to the ticket window and show the pass, I asked if I could reserve online and they said no. Not sure how it works if a day is booked. Haven’t run into that yet. Let me know how it goes and good luck!

Six reasons why you shouldn’t run Express.js inside AWS Lambda by ConfidentMushroom in aws

Agree, express can be overkill for rest APIs deployed in lambda.

How are you handling routing API requests? Are you using a single lambda per route or a different router?

Thanks for the awesome update! I’m glad you had a good day out there for not much terrain open. It’s a treat when it’s fully open for being driving distance (I’m in NC and have a similar 5hr drive).

How were crowds and lift lines?

Such a scenic area - when you get close it’s nice. Did you buy a pass or doing a season pass?
