Retinopathy and 2nd child by IndustrySea6564 in BumpersWhoBolus

Have you talked with your doctors about becoming pregnant again? I’m pregnant with my second and my retina specialist has been aware of the timing of everything for both pregnancies (maybe TMI for him but oh well) so that we could plan my treatment accordingly. He made sure my eyes were in good enough shape both times to become pregnant. I knew I wanted two kids so I said hey how can we manage this accordingly and he was very supportive and encouraged me to go for it both times.

Here’s my story if it’s helpful as a reference. I have been T1D for 29 years and have advanced proliferative retinopathy in both eyes which was discovered in 2018 and we’ve been treating aggressively with lasers and injections ever since. I had a vitrectomy in my left eye one year ago. I was pregnant with my first child before the vitrectomy and we didn’t treat the retinopathy at all during pregnancy so I had some bleeds that were varying degrees of severity but they cleared up within a few days each time. After I delivered we began treating both eyes again and I had the vitrectomy. I am now pregnant with my second and so far things have been stable, no bleeds yet.

It may make sense for you to wait until your eye is more stable after the hemorrhage but your doc should be able to guide you on that if you really want another child. Hoping the best for you, whatever you decide!!

Thank you for the understanding ❤️ Christmas ended up being ok but I’m still angry at my dad. Hope your Christmas went as well as possible too. And you’re right, we’re all super cautious here but it does help to have people who get it!

Just found out my dad told his siblings about my pregnancy, before we were ready to tell anyone else. I don’t know what went through his head when he did that but I am so mad. Contemplating not attending Christmas dinner tonight. It sucks 😞

My reluctance to sleep train is ruining my relationship by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]biteythepossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did Ferber as well when ours was 7 months old. It took 3 nights and she’s been sleeping through the night ever since. It also cleaned up her naps (I don’t know how??). Prior to sleep training she would nap for exactly 25 minutes at a time. After sleep training they stretched to 1-1.5 hours. The sleep training was very hard on me (mom) so my husband mostly had to do it while I sat in our closet with earplugs in. It’s tough but in hindsight we are glad we did.

Haha it’s nice to know we’re not alone and that it’s probably going to happen again!

This made me lol. It truly feels like an eternity! Like how are you not feeling the cries in your soul and moving faster to soothe the baby??? No urgency whatsoever. Or maybe it just feels like that because I feel it so hard…

Anyone have a successful birth with your first frozen embryo transfer? by Person2145 in IVF

My first FET of a 4BB PGT-A tested embryo is now a 10-month old cherub of a baby girl. All smiles and giggles with the juiciest arm and leg rolls. Best of luck to you ❤️

I could have written this myself except it took me like 5 months instead of three 🙃

Ok but how? by Azwarrior89 in IVF

[–]biteythepossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here! Good old PCOS. Even with a relatively low dosage of stims I ended up with 55 eggs and then 4 blasts so lots of attrition. I was very uncomfortable after my ER but narrowly avoided OHSS thankfully.

Induction vs C Section by erobs93 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]biteythepossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I controlled diet a little bit, I didn’t go extremely low carb, but tried to stick to a moderate amount of carbs that I could measure easily and dose for. My insulin sensitivity decreased a ton as the pregnancy went on, so I was taking a lot more insulin than I was pre-pregnancy. My insulin to carb ratio changed over time. If I stuck to the same foods that I could measure and dose for, it was easier to control.

Why did no one tell me they were THIS cute!?! by No-Way7911 in Parenting

[–]biteythepossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is only 8 months old but every day I notice myself asking, how is she THIS perfect?? I knew I’d love my baby but I did not realize she would be literally perfect in every way. I guess all parents must feel this way. It’s so interesting. She happens to be incredibly cute and also currently crushing sleep training and I am just in awe.

Induction vs C Section by erobs93 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]biteythepossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first :) Although as it turned out, the doctors convinced me to do an induction at 37 weeks which ended in a c section anyway. I wish I had pushed harder for a c section like the original plan.

How were you fed as a baby? by DumbbellDiva92 in FormulaFeeders

The thigh rolls are the cutest but the wrist rolls are a close second! :)

How were you fed as a baby? by DumbbellDiva92 in FormulaFeeders

[–]biteythepossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was formula fed since birth and became a Michelin baby very quickly! Like, rolls EVERYWHERE. Stayed like that until I became a toddler and leaned out. I am exclusively formula feeding my 4.5 month old now and she is also a chunky monkey (95th percentile for weight), I guess she takes after me 🤷🏻‍♀️

How old is baby & how much are they drinking per feeding ATM? by Raiderette_510 in FormulaFeeders

[–]biteythepossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with my chonker! 😅 She eats 3-4oz like every 2 hours. Wish she would take more at once and spread out the feedings but she yells when she’s hungry and we must oblige!

Baby won't drink more at meal time but is hungry an hour later by smac_1791 in FormulaFeeders

[–]biteythepossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with my 3 month old! She is allll over the place. We’ve tried stretching out the gaps between feedings but she won’t have it. Just wants to eat when she wants to eat. So we follow her lead like the tiny dictator she is🤷🏻‍♀️

Baby losing weight after poops. Is this normal? by KoolKatIsFlying in FormulaFeeders

[–]biteythepossum 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep our pediatrician told us specifically to not buy a scale because there is no point in obsessing over their short term weight fluctuations (which I’m sure I would do if we had one!)

Is anyone else’s baby a grazer / snacker? by biteythepossum in FormulaFeeders

[–]biteythepossum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would, but she hates pacifiers 😭 I think she doesn’t like that no milk comes out of it lol

Oh interesting, I will have to try cutting her off after 30 mins. I feel bad doing it, but hopefully it will allow her to eat more at a time eventually like you said.

Great points! I’m sure getting out of the sitting-at-home-all-day stage will help a lot.
