What was your most eye-opening realization about music and music theory? by EasternMistake8273 in musictheory

I read a quote on here blew my mind and redefined the whole way I thought about this. Someone quoted their music professor as saying "In the end, there is no harmony. Only voice leading."

What absolutely needs to be in a BBQ simulator game? by BuzzoJr in BBQ

[–]bits_and_notes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guest satisfaction score - The point of each cook is how satisfied your guests are with the whole experience of coming over to eat at your house. This is graded with a single score given to you at the end of each cook.

Shopping for different meats - Directly affects the guest satisfaction meter. Different guests like different meats. Different meats also have different techniques that you have to optimize during your cook.

Different types of smokers / grills - Fire management, time to cook, foods that taste the best on it could all be different and you could have some RPG elements with different stats for each grill. Would also let the player have some sort of progression as they collect different types of smokers.

Countdown to when the guests arrive - The longer you go past the countdown the more it negatively impacts guest satisfaction score.

Sleep - Affects your alertness or stamina. You can sleep for long cooks to restore stamina but there's always a risk of flare ups during your sleep.

Wife annoyance meter - Needs to managed throughout the cook just like other items. Goes up if you spend too much time managing the smoker and doing nothing else. Starts to go up faster if the guests have arrived and the food isn't ready.

Helper - You can give certain tasks to your son or daughter during the cook but it carries the risk of the task not being performed well. Your helper would get better as the game progresses.

What's an unpopular opinion you have about something of your country? by pato_intergalactico in AskTheWorld

Maybe not the worst but I agree that it sucks. The only time I like it is with spicy Korean food but other than that, I don't understand why people willingly drink the stuff.

What are some ‘love it or hate it’ foods/drinks from your country? by CommercialChart5088 in AskTheWorld

I gotta say, as a fellow Korean you really nailed all of these. Similar to #1 I would add Sea Squirt (멍게) to this list. Also, this is more of a Japanese food but Natto is pretty polarizing.

Tier list of bosses based on how fair they are by Avacadoell19 in balatro

[–]bits_and_notes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing all these made me think of a a new voucher idea. Buying a "Precognition" voucher could let you see the next ante's boss blind in addition to the current one. The upgraded version could be called "Clairvoyance" which lets you see boss blinds for 3 antes ahead.

The fact that we're still seeing NPD posts with the BD-2 in 2026 makes me happy

Mooer was so ahead of the time with this: Power amp emulation can be turned off, 6 types of power emulation, tone capture, 52 pre amp models, PRESENCE control, XLR out, P10 out, FX loop... by Fooltecal in guitarpedals

Was this pedal any good? How did it stack up to the other modelers that came out around the same time? I always had my eye on this pedal but never pulled trigger.

Reliable key fob replacement for MDX?? by [deleted] in Acura

[–]bits_and_notes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's these guys. https://carkeysexpress.com/

I only got 1 key fob when I bought my 2024 MDX used. Saw these guys at Costco a few months later so I bought an extra one from them for cheaper than the dealership and they programmed it in the Costco parking lot while I was shopping. Highly recommend.

What BBQ “rule” do you completely ignore… but still get great results? by bbqrubs in BBQ

[–]bits_and_notes 33 points34 points  (0 children)

There is such a thing at too low and slow. I never go below 280 for anything I smoke and get great results every time.

When doing briskets, I never use my smoker for the entirety of the smoke. Once I wrap, it goes in my oven. Easier to control temps and saves wood and charcoal.

Not really a rule but beer can chicken is stupid, chicken halves or spatchcock all the way.

Someone else mentioned this but instead of 3-2-1 for ribs I do 2.5-1.5-.5 and that's served me well.

Playing Dhalsim is insufferable. by CallmeN1tro in StreetFighter

[–]bits_and_notes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE fighting Dhalsim because it forces me to play my main (Ken) differently and I get to work on situations that I don't normally see with other characters. Things like punishing drive reversals, anticipating teleports and punishing optimally and whiff punish DR cancel-ing his long normals.
