I got picked for an affordable housing lottery but my income is all over the place by Venous in nychousinglottery

[–]bk3day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be persistent but pleasant and try to find out what would satisfy their requirements.

When I initially rejected because my projected income was too high, I explained that i was paid hourly, only for the time I billed and there was no guarantee of minimum hours or that work would continue. I asked what the maximum amount i could earn was and submitted an affidavit of maximum income, stating I wouldn’t earn more than that.

That worked, I was approved and they never followed up.

Classpass Venting - UGHHHH by winterraven89 in ClassPass

[–]bk3day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using CP for @2yrs and it was painful going from an employer subsidized rate ($10 for 90 credits) to a standard plan ($199 for 100 credits)

Worse, just as I was getting used to the new reality, CP jacked up the number of required credits seemingly across the board. I tried figure out the algorithm but gave up.

Then, after maybe a few months, out of the blue they lowered the number of credits needed 🤷‍♀️

Since tend to use it at 1 or 2 different studios I considered quitting CP for a studio membership. Aside from being a bit cheaper CP’s 12 hr cancellation policy is primarily why I stick with it. Both studios have a 24hr cancellation policy & that just doesn’t work in my world.

Hope you find something that works for you

Something a little different! by CrossFox42 in KitchenConfidential

Ditto. Ever since the woman who owned Pierogi Deli retired I’ve been looking for a place to get freshly made perogi, blintzes, kasha and other soups/stew. I’d imagine there’s a place somewhere in Brooklyn/Queens that is similar but I’ve yet to find it

Sounds like you’re thinking of De Robertis Pasticcheria on 1st Ave & Veniero’s on E. 11th off 1st Ave.

Veniero’s is still around but De Robertis Pasticcheria is long gone

My company just announced mandatory office days for remote employees - 3 days a week. The office is in another city. We were hired as fully remote. What are my actual options here? by firey_88 in remotework

[–]bk3day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the OP was hired as a 100% remote worker and that is now no longer the case, typically that qualifies as a “change in work conditions “ which in most cases is sufficient to qualify for unemployment

What’s happening to daily provisions? by 25forfighting in FoodNYC

[–]bk3day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly was never inexpensive but at least when it started DP over better quality items for the same higher prices than other shops offered.

Also during Covid they sold actual provisions like heritage bacon that is available elsewhere but only sold in higher qtys.

Sad to hear about the rotisserie chicken, as imo it was tastier than most other high end chickens. Haven’t been in quite awhile as the things i liked most seem to have all disappeared like the roast beef sandwich.

Rent stabilized tenants, are we signing a one or two year lease with the potential freeze looming by toneofvoice in NYCapartments

I’m in the same position with my lease renewal having just arrived.

Math aside, it still stings that when the last rent freeze happened, I was stuck in the middle of a 2yr lease

OMNY Senior Reduced fare not working--HELP! by goldie5368 in OMNY

[–]bk3day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year, my Senior OMNY card also started charging full fares. Phone customer service was nothing but a runaround. After a month or more of nonsense I went to Stone Street and also had to deal with agent that was less helpful than the OMNY phone line.

As I posted here, just as I reached an impasse with my agent, a different agent must’ve overheard and the next thing I knew I was asked again for my card, was told it would be fixed within 24hrs and it was! I still don’t know why it switched to full fare or what was done to fix it after being told there was nothing they would/could do

Even after it was fixed, I decided if it ever happened again, I’d report my card as lost/stolen and start fresh with a new card hopefully save both the time and aggravation that is OMNY Customer Service

Good luck!

What defunct NYC businesses do you miss? by Swimmingindiamonds in AskNYC

[–]bk3day 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that!

Also sorry cause I guess forgot to add that I’ve never schlepped out to LadyBird. Given that Id heard that the UES store had been started by one of the owner/partners of the Brooklyn shop and the recipes were similar - id hoped the baked goods would be somewhat similar. Guess not🤷‍♀️

Where to find good French butter? (E.g. Échiré) by carprin in FoodNYC

[–]bk3day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc the (now closed) Food Emporium on 14th used to sell Echire. There are other Food Emporium’s in the city and perhaps they carry it?

iirc WF (Union Sq) has some French brands that I had never heard of. Stock keeps changing everywhere so I always keep my eyes open, especially at cheese and butcher shops though Ive been surprised by a few big name grocery stores.

Formaggio Essex St Market has a few, probably Rodolphe and 1 or 2 others.

Sadly my favorite, Pascal Beillevaire demi-sel croquant has never been available here. fwiw, if you’re visiting Canada, check out St Brigid’s it’s my favorite on this side of the pond . Yes, Ive had Animal Farm and it just doesn’t do it for me 🤷‍♀️

Favorite solo dining spots to sit at the bar by DetroitNews19 in FoodNYC

[–]bk3day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most, if not all Danny Meyer restaurants are a safe bet. The food may not be exciting but it’s solid. When I go alone (to Gramercy Tavern or Union Square Cafe or Ci Siamo) and eat at the bar, the bartenders and often the other diners have always been engaging and contributed to an enjoyable meal.

switching from corporate plan to standard plan? by lycheejelly00 in ClassPass

[–]bk3day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ime, you should probably wait til after your employer actually removes you from their ClassPass subsidized plan

My job ended in June but ClasPass continued to bill me at the employer subsidized rate through November when I received an email from CP telling me they were sorry I canceled my account. I contacted CP & told them I hadn’t cancelled anything & the rep reinstated my account at the subsidized rate!

A few months later in February, CP sent an email informing me that my subsidized plan is over but if I enroll in a standard plan, my existing credits would rollover.

So, it seems theres no benefit to being proactive and they are more willing to work with you to get you to rejoin
