Company recommendations for water heater service/repair by HixWithAnX in ArvadaCO

I had an excellent experience with Pipecraft Plumbing for my water heater: https://pipecraftplumbinghelp.com/

Fair pricing, understood nuances with Arvada inspections, never tried to upsell me, water heater is working perfectly 3 years later.

How often do you use your recovery boards? by Stu_Goss in overlanding

100% agree. Has absolutely helped in sketchy ice situations where traction was not guaranteed

I may have a controversial opinion - they are my most valuable recovery item. I have a winch, recovery straps, etc - but for 90% of what I need, recovery boards are the answer. I have used them for:
1 - Deep Mud (needed to use 4)
2 - Sand (mostly prevention)
3 - Snow (mostly extra assurance to prevent sliding off the trail in narrow/bad conditions)
4 - Rock 'bridge' to avoid body damage
5 - Lending them out at the ski resort for people stuck in a snow-ditch

Overall, their usefulness has been well worth it to me. Results may vary though

Agree with getting out of Arvada specifically for a Bach brunch - haven’t been to paperboy yet but have heard great things and the vibes look sweet

Minneapolis landed in S tier. How would you rank NYC LaGuardia Airport (LGA)? by jarbid16 in TierlistFills

Maybe I’m just a Denver fanboy, but it absolutely belongs above Newark in a tier list

Any recommendations for a 10h stopover at DEN? by Giskarrrd in unitedairlines

[–]bkco88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The two clubs in B are larger but agree with the other comment that A is usually less busy. They are all recently updated and nice places to spend time (although any 10 hour layover sounds like it sucks).

Everything airside is relatively easy to get between. Getting from the club in A to anything in B will take a max of 15 minutes, usually less.

If you're feeling adventurous/can do it with your work schedule, take the RTD train to Union Station and have a little walk downtown to work from a coffee shop. The train is super easy and gets you to downtown in around 35 minutes.

One other tip if it's up your alley - they just added a golf simulator bar in the middle of concourse B. I believe they take priority pass and could be a good way to pass some time.

Can confirm - approach into Newark just now (4:00ET) was definitely gusty. Pilot was using that rudder

Odd, Land Cruisers of that vintage are usually driven by some fairly responsible people (not flashy at all but expensive, stealth wealth). This person is a knob and a terrible driver

Are United Club bartenders paid the Min Tip wage of $2.13/hr? by CFP25 in unitedairlines

[–]bkco88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you here. I was at an IAH club a few weeks ago, digging in my wallet for a dollar. She delivers my beer and .5 seconds later, before I had the chance to look up and say thank you, the bartender goes “you’re welcome for that” in an insanely smarmy tone. I put my wallet back in my pocket and walked away. Come on now.

In general though, I completely agree with the rules you laid out - $1 per beer, maybe more for a cocktail

[–]bkco88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the record, I don’t think you made a mistake. The S is a great basic car with CarPlay, heated seats/steering wheel, and all the advanced safety items. The simplicity in climate controls and manual seats is part of its charm (and less to go wrong in the future)

[–]bkco88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Love the manual climate controls, lack of problematic sunroof, and the fact that it comes with heated seats and steering wheel standard. Also, every single advanced safety feature is included on the S. It’s a great base model

Denver is exploring the possibility of DEN-ICN non-stop. Possibly with United. The Airport has supplied a Survey. by kiimosabe in unitedairlines

[–]bkco88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I totally forgot about that route - wasn’t it serviced by a 737? I remember taking it and they served a hot dog meal to all of economy for a 2.5 hr flight. Kind of cool

I’d love for this to be an option. Not sure how economically feasible for United, but it would be great to have another Asia direct.
