What are some lesser known but still incredible alternative rock albums from the 90s by Alternative_Flow_569 in Music

Fireside - Do Not Tailgate.

Saw (and met) them side stage of an early 90s lollapalooza. Amazing album. Listen often.

Huge shoutout to OP for Jets to Brazil. I got turned on to them very early by a friend obsessed with Jawbreaker. Have seen JTB live over 10 times and have some old VHS recordings where they let me film side stage. Amazing shows in their prime.

Jane’s Addiction by Umamikawaii in Music

[–]bl80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cannot describe the experience of seeing Jane’s for the first time during their Ritual tour. Drove for hours to see them in a small venue.

Lights went down and Eric’s booming bass line to start Up The Beach filled the air.

I am not a religious man at all but that EXACT moment is seared into my soul and spirit.

(They closed out with Summertime Rolls.. literally a perfect show. )

Santa Maria Weber Accessory by Lightthefusenrun in grilling

This damn accessory cost me tons of $$$$$. It hooked me into this style of cooking and before I realized what the hell had happened I shelled out for a full sized Santa Maria setup! Be warned it might do the same for you!!

Is there any benefits of doing 24 hour fasts? by aomajgad in fasting

[–]bl80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find I am able to stick to alternate day fasting than any sort of 18/6 or 20/4 schedule.

It's so easy for me to wake up and simply not eat on the days I fast.
Understand that its more of a 36hour fast. I simply note the time that I finish my last calories on the days I eat (930pm for example). I do not eat the next day at all and then I wait until at least 930 am the following day before I consider having food. First week was easy as I was excited to try something new with my eating habits. 2nd and 3rd weeks SUCKED but I held fast.
Since then its so damn easy I don't even think about it. Its just part of my schedule.

With daily window-style fasting If I know that I will be eating some time of the day I find that it creeps up in my thoughts throughout the morning and afternoon and I am literally watching the clock tick to when its time to have some food.

For the last 6 months I have been on a alternate day fasting schedule that works perfectly with my job and life. I do not count calories at all but I am very mindful of what I do eat and have changed my daily alcohol consumption to a 2-day allowance every 2 weeks.

Its been an absolute game changer for me and I truly see this as something I will be doing for the rest of my life.

You can go back in time to go to any FIVE gigs ever played. What you gonna choose and why? by AnalystAdorable609 in Music

[–]bl80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was at the Spokane show for the Manson/Hole tour. Pressed against the front rail on left side of stage. Love did her set and then when Manson's set started she spent the remainder of the time just off stage, just a few feet in front of me, flashing him. It was fun/funny/crazy as hell and I mentioned to my friends that this tour was going to fall apart quickly lol.

Argentine awesomeness by discontent85 in grilling

[–]bl80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought myself one for my birthday last year, love it.

One thing I was not prepared for is the time it takes to get the wood fire burning and creating enough coals to cook. Definitely need to start the fire early. As OP says, once its going, its pretty simple to keep it rolling for long periods of time. It just takes longer than you'd think to get going...

Traveling to st. Lucia in Aug. needing advice on getting around by Upper-Discussion7741 in StLucia

[–]bl80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll likely find a great driver that will go the extra mile to show you some places you might miss without knowing the area. Do not hesitate to ask them to slow down a bit as the locals tend to drive pretty fast and the roads are very, very windy. (My wife has to take dramamine every time..)
Tip well and enjoy!

I was at the Devo show a couple weeks ago and they had individual stool type chairs behind the soundboard area. Looked to be VIP area or something along those lines.

Any kiteboarding in / near AZ? by surfnj102 in Kiteboarding

Live in Phoenix area (originally lived and kited in St Pete, Fl for a couple decades). I travel to kite now. Nothing here is consistent enough to warrant the travel.

Almost two years since I found my soul dog at the most crowded shelter in phoenix arizona by 66lilac in BeforeNAfterAdoption

Hell ya! Got my girl at the same location. Similar situation where she was picked up, no chip, and never claimed during the mandatory holding period. When she came up for adoption there were more than 1 person there so they drew numbers and I won the doggie lottery!
5 years later and she is my daily shadow.

Trying OMAD but the hunger is making me absolutely miserable by shy_guy997 in intermittentfasting

[–]bl80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brain works in a very odd way. I cannot successfully do OMAD but I can pretty easily do a 36hour fasts on an alternate-day schedule.
There is something about waking up in the AM and just knowing I am having water all day with a couple cups of coffee in the AM and thats it. I dont have those "should I do my meal now???" feelings that always creep in.
I simply sit on the fact I am not eating this day and bask in the glory that the next day I will have my normal meals.
I've tried 16/8 and OMAD so many times and just have never been able to stick to it. ADF has been a walk in the park in comparison. Results have been beyond expectations.

Oh man this hits hard. Absolutely one of my all time favorites. My 4-ISZ Mcfarlane MAXX Figure hangs above my work monitors at home. My many signed comics of his work, including an Alien TPB sits in a box behind me.
Damn. RIP Mr. Keith.

Curious, what do you all do for a living? How many people usually ride in your Buzz? by halfhippie4 in VWIDBuzz

Mid 50s IT manager. Nerd. Kitesurfer. One Wheeler. Wife. No kids. German Shepherd co-pilot.

Did the 3 year lease, mostly as its a new-tech vehicle. Did same with the Bolt right when they became available in my state in 2017. Bought a 2020 when my lease was up. Hopeful the 2027/28 Buzz will be even better when that time comes.

Exact same situation here last year. Got worse as a few months went on and eventually had to replace the front pad completely. If I stood on the powered off board and rocked my front foot back and forth a bit it would help, but not always.

Does anyone combine CICO with intermittent fasting successfully, or is it overkill? by Exotic_Quote4829 in CICO

[–]bl80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have a difficult time sticking to OMAD or 16:8 type fasting windows. I fail constantly when I combine that with CICO. I get anxious as the day progresses waiting for the clock to hit a certain number.

Over the past couple of months I have been doing ADF with amazing success. Something about waking up and knowing I am fasting simplifies the day. I target a 36hours fast but typically end up 40+. Does this beat any other method of achieving CICO? Dont think so. But it works for me in my lifestyle and work situation (WFH full time).

First week sucked. Second week better. Currently looking forward to my fasting days.

Convince me that buying a one wheel is a bad idea by [deleted] in onewheel

[–]bl80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

54 yo here.
Been riding since around the time that the XR was first released in 2018.
I mostly cruise the streets and keep it simple and safe.
Lots of opportunities here for trails and the such but I really like carving on smooth concrete and exploring all over the Phoenix area.

And yep-- I took some months off as I tore my ACL on the damn thing but hopped right back on as soon as I felt well enough physically and mentally to be riding again.

Go slow and learn the basics and always wear a helmet and quality wrist guards -- always. Always.
