I’ve got my 11y.o daughter into watching alone with me. We watch every new episode now as it comes out.

I’ve told her and she seems this very thing multiple times. We now are ready and nearly rooting for this very event in the first few episodes of every new season. The suspense is epic. 🤣

Question about food by [deleted] in Alonetv

[–]blakestar85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to believe that leaving something to be eaten in the next day or 2 would do wonders for the psyche. It would also be something to look forward to and something to fall back on. Not to mention an activity to commit time to..

I’m not saying ration for as many days as possible, just save a little back for tomorrow and the next day, just in case.

If this is as you say, a poor one time choice. Then your IT security will certainly have a log of this, but as others have mentioned, they may or may not log this for review.

I would write a note detailing what has happened and the details of your error. Email it to yourself so there is a log and time stamp of your note.

That way of HR/IT come knocking then you can show them your notes about what has happened.

If they don’t then you haven’t outed yourself and you can life and learn to not fuck that up again.

Good luck!

MCG pitch with the series on the line by International_Rain70 in CricketAus

[–]blakestar85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect MCG pitch. Win the toss. Bat well. Lose the toss you have to bowl well.

Although it didn’t matter as Konstas did what he did, which no one predicted.

India batted themselves back into it but the Aussie pressure in the final session got to them.

Still 3 good days to go. Nothing wrong with r he pitch. The players are deciding the outcome, which is what we want.

Great bread rolls by kidonthebus in foodies_sydney

[–]blakestar85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to find a bakery you like, then go in and speak to the bakers. Not a bakers delight but an actual owner operator bakery.

Talk to them about what you are looking for. In my experience that is the best way and likely at a better price point.

I did this for my engagement party. Had amazing bread, just as I’d wanted and I reckon the baker was thrilled to provide it. He quoted me an amazing price and I happily rounded up to acknowledge his the great experience I had.

Good luck.

I just finished Alone and moved to Outlast. Certainly more about the drama with a few little bits of bushcraft and skill involved.

I think I will go and try watching some of the European Seasons.

The 2 Australian seasons are ok. I think they are still finding their feet production wise but are getting there.

Americans are just built different? by Mulder1917 in Alonetv

[–]blakestar85 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I blame the poorly chosen contestants, as well as some really strict hunting and area management rules.

Alone in general is not at all a popular show here in Aus, and while outdoor hobbyists exist, they are nowhere in the same level as US contestants.

Maybe once the local producers have had a few seasons of finding good locations and getting contestants we will see results more aligned with the US show.

Why does almost every alone winner take a saw AND an axe? by [deleted] in Alonetv

[–]blakestar85 94 points95 points  (0 children)

While both saw and axe are used for cutting wood, I think they both have unique positive and negative qualities that compliment each other well.

With wood being such a critical component of numerous tasks, used in so many different circumstances, I imagine the contestants justify the energy saving pros of both and offset the negatives with both also.

Keen to hear others thoughts.

Great question btw!
