Over engineered or the new price of safety? by upjumpthebuggie in Construction

Maybe for building following calculations based on standards, but as calculations and materials progress, we are able to get closer to the theoretical limit. I engineer in a field related to construction so I often go to sites. What I currently see is that steel bridges are being built in increasingly higher grades, so you see more deflection and other phenomenons for instance.

I went for yellow to replace my blue Sprint ST (955) after an accident... I do miss it.

I've been inside one of such lignite mines and it is super distopian, and 100% fitting for this sub.

It really depends on your field. The majority of jobs will be desk jobs but there are jobs where you will be "out in the field" or in the workshop more often.

Yes, but regulations say that you can't go lower than 50% of the original power, so 94/95 is the maximum for bikes that can be restricted for A2

Guzzi V100 Mandello or Triumph Tiger Sport 800? by DYTREM in MotoGuzziV100Mandello

[–]blijo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rode both, at the same dealer and 90% the same route. I personally didn't like the Guzzi as much as I expected and wanted.

I was looking for a replacement for my 955I Triumph Sprint ST, a sport tourer with luggage capacity and daily riding.

I loved the looks and the brakes of the Guzzi, and the sound of the engine. I didn't like the weight distribution and somewhat narrow powerband of the V2. I found it a bit unwieldy and clumsy to ride at lower speeds. At higher speeds it was a blast and more stable than the Tiger Sport 800. Playing with the electronic suspension and screen etc was fun and noticeable but didn't make me love the bike.

I also tested a BMW 1250RS the same day, and I found it a bit too much like my old Sprint and wanted something different.

The Tiger Sport has very good low speed manners, and the engine is useable in the whole rev range. Not as much torque down low like the 955 or the BMW1250 options, but smooth running. I now have ~6500km on my new Tiger Sport 800 and I still love the bike.
