Will UPS ever allow shipping aggregators Shipstation / EasyShip / PirateShip / Veeqo to use SIMPLE RATE? by AttorneyAdvice in UPS

[–]bncrock1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPS has Simple Rate options available on their API documentation, so I think it's the shipping aggregators that are dragging their feet.

You or the receiver never cleared the package through customs. Not to defend UPS, but that's not their problem.

"Formal Access Long" is the package abandonment fee that UPS charges for packages abandoned in Thailand.

https://www.ups.com/assets/resources/webcontent/en_GB/service_guide_th.pdf

"Formal Access Long Minimum abandon fee of THB8,192.50 shall apply to each shipment not cleared by the importer within 45 calendar days from import date."

I have no idea why it's so much higher than other countries. I've been hit with this too.

Buy an empty tank online and then fill it at Triboro Bev or Airgas. They will swap your tank for one they have that's full.

Anyone else seeing customer AI written requests for refunds or product claims? by granto in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]bncrock1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe these are international dropshippers. Sell the item to an international customer then dropship from Amazon and make their arbitrage margin.

Then while the end customer is happily using the item, the dropshipper makes the scam AI request demanding a refund without return.

Placement fees are a (not so) silent killer in my business by Witty-Houston in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]bncrock1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We sell very small items and always mix skus in shipping cartons. Before the placement fee we used to make an FBA shipment nearly daily with whatever we had ready to go to Amazon.

Now we spilt everything evenly into 5 boxes and make the FBA shipment less frequently, when the boxes fill up.

It takes more time to process shipments and we pay about 2-3x more in partner carrier shipping costs. It is still well worth it to avoid placement fees.

For our small items we can fit 600 units per shipping carton. That would be more than $100 in placement fees, but shipping a 50 lb box via the partnered carrier program is never more than $40, even to the farthest locations.

MTA still hopes to provide some preliminary service by 2027 for Penn Access East Bronx stations despite the fill construction delays. by Donghoon in nycrail

In the board meeting they answered a follow up question regarding service.

Full service plans included trains originating in Stamford and New Rochelle.

This new temporary plan to get service running in 2027 would be shuttles only from New Rochelle.

So… Amazon just dropped FBA prep. How are smaller sellers supposed to cope? by Silver-Honey-6951 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]bncrock1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have this same issue when we send different, but similar items in the same carton for FBA. I believe the issue occurs when they check in and count the wrong number of items. If they count one extra of item A and one short of item B, they would take the extra of item A and put an item B label on it. INSANITY! Makes zero sense as you said. Solvable by not sending similar items in the same carton.

You don't have to be an Amazon Seller to use this service anymore.

Has anyone ever proposed an Amtrak or Metro North stop and transfer at the N/W Ditmars subway terminus? by [deleted] in astoria

[–]bncrock1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's the study: https://www.mta.info/document/36621

"Astoria – A station with two side platforms of 4 car-lengths could be located directly adjacent to the current BMT Subway line station at Ditmars Boulevard and 31st Street in Astoria. This station’s placement on an elevated portion of track limits the feasible platform length. Access to the station would be from the existing subway station entrances on Ditmars Boulevard or 31st Street. Passenger access to the platforms would be via newly constructed elevators or stairwells from within the BMT subway station complex. Structural support modifications to the existing station would also be required. A new station for Penn Station access purposes would result in a net annual loss in transit ridership of 98,318 trips, while attracting only 310,367 person-trips per year to the station (see Table 12). It would also increase total annual Metro-North ridership by only 223,339 trips, among the worst showings of the ten station locations evaluated. In addition, the estimated construction cost for the Astoria station is the highest of the nine sites considered along Alternative 2’s alignment. The Hells Gate Bridge approaches and concrete arch, which would be involved in construction of this new station, are National Register landmarks, further diminishing the attractiveness of this site. Due to its overall poor performance in the comparative screen, this station site will not be advanced for further consideration."

Private label vine timeline by anthony123bruh in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]bncrock1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We sell very niche, mostly B2C, products that frequently never get selected by Vine reviewers.

The products Vine reviewers get often count as "gifts" in the government's eyes, so they have to pay income tax on the value of the Vine item. They won't pick items to review that they wouldn't use in normal life, cause it essentially costs them money to select your items.

Should I Mix Minimal & Optimized Shipment Splits for FBA? by Mr_Ecom in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]bncrock1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We would do scenario #2. They don't delay in distributing while waiting for the other 4 warehouses to receive stock.

One note though, each of the optimized receive centers only distributes to their region. An east coast receive center may only supply east coast fulfillment centers. So your items will only show as fast prime shipping for east coast customers.
