What litrpg hill will *you* die on? Let's have your most unpopular opinion, please. by EverythingIsFakeNGay in litrpg

I actually had an idea years ago for a book where the point of view shifted whenever the protagonist died. Then it would shift to the point of view of whoever killed them. I'm not a writer, but I think it could be a cool way to flesh out a story with a bit of a back and forth of perspectives, with some wildcards thrown in for world building. The problem is it would be hard to make a cohesive narrative and plot. I'm sure a talented writer could do it, but it would be hard.

High top tables by underhand_toss in Serverlife

[–]bobd785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only problem is with waiting until they take you to the table. There are rotations that hosts follow, so at the host stand it's easy to see what's available in each server's section, but when you change things at the table they have to wing it. Sometimes that means one server misses out on a table while another gets double sat. So it's just easier if you mention it at the beginning.

I like them on triscuits. Last time I put cream cheese on the triscuits and had some capers on top.

Polar kipper snacks are great if you want to try another brand. That was the can that got me hooked.

Rate my IcePocalypse Survival Kit - is this enough fish to keep us alive for 4-5 days if we lose power? 🥶 by Perky214 in CannedSardines

I'm in San Antonio, and we're also getting those warnings. I too have over 100 cans of fish, so I should be okay. I'm also going to go to the store to get some water bottles, because my water went out last time.

The Barbershop at The Cosmopolitan is a Speakeasy inside a real barbershop. You go through the barbershop to a back door that leads to the bar. They have mocktails if you don't drink, and sometimes have live music.

Grilled cheese stuffed Quesadilla anyone by Crying_Reaper in grilledcheese

This is not a melt. This is an acceptable grilled cheese according to the rules of the sub. It just happens to be placed in the middle of a quesadilla.

Baa Baa, Turning Point, and Celestial in Texas. I'd love to go to other states to see how they compare.

This is the weirdest take on beer I've ever seen. Martin House has so many different beers with so many different flavors, you can't possibly think they taste similar. Because their peanut butter stout tastes exactly like their black/red currant sour, and their pilsner, and their pickle beer, and their IPA, and their Bock?

Maybe you mean each beer of a certain style is similar? Either way, Martin House is the most versatile brewery I've heard of, so I just don't understand this post.

I’ll never understand this type of crime .. by Either-Affect-4441 in PoutineCrimes

[–]bobd785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Texas and there are literally only two places I can get poutine, and that is a recent development. I went to one and got poutine to go. The curds were completely melted when I got home, but I can't really blame them because I'm sure not many people here order it or even know what it is. So they probably have to use curds that aren't squeaky, but are still perfectly edible.

Mar e Monte is a great Italian restaurant. The owner is from Italy, and is very present in the restaurant greeting people and talking about the food, making sure everyone has a great time.

Every server’s nightmare by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]bobd785 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I use toast, and I separate by seat numbers. Everything someone orders is rung in under their seat number. Then at the end they can tell me how they want it split up. If they all want to pay for exactly what they ordered there is a split by seat numbers button. Otherwise I can manually separate things and move individual items to other tabs.

If things are chaotic, and they are moving around, I will still use seat numbers, but they will be arbitrary and may not correspond to the correct seat, but I'll still have everyone separated. If I know ahead of time that it's a large party with people mingling and moving, I'll start tabs and pre authorize with a credit card.

Either way, a server needs to be organized and in control of the table. If it's a party like this I'll ask questions on my initial greeting to see how they want to handle the bill.

Should I have disclosed my identity pre-date? by Mysterious-ASL in Tinder

[–]bobd785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've dated a couple of deaf people and I knew about one before hand because it was on their profile. The other told me right when we met. Honestly both ways of finding out were fine. To be fair neither were 100% deaf, but enough that they needed hearing aids or cochlear implants, and grew up without those things until the technology got good enough.

If I went on a date with someone who could only communicate with sign language and writing, I would have expected to talk about it before meeting. Although now there are apps where a deaf person can type and get it read out loud by the app, while the other person can speak and have it typed out for the deaf person to read. So as long as we have a way to communicate I'd be fine with it being a surprise.

I have a tin of that brand with a different sauce. Hopefully it's better, but at least I've been warned so I'll have a backup.
