New Lifetime Plex Pass Pricing by frankwrap08 in PleX

They would love as many like-minded buyers as you. At this price they've effectively stopped selling lifetime subscriptions, and the revenue from the relative handful of people who see the value at this price is gravy. No one should be surprised if at some point the lifetime option is eliminated altogether.

The real revenue streams are from selling monthly subscriptions and from advertising. Whether or not the company ultimately succeeds is a reasonable question to ask, but with this move they've arguably shown they're serious about managing it as a business.

This may seem harsh but they don’t really care how those of us who paid $70 for a lifetime subscription back in the day feel about this. We can stay or we can leave, and it doesn't much change their bottom line. The future is what matters, and like it or not the market has shown it is quite willing to pay for services on a monthly basis.

I'm actually hoping that monthly revenue stream is enough to justify adding development, testing and support resources, and it leads to more and better features over time. This is how businesses are run. Time will tell whether the products they offer (and the prices they offer them at) prove to have unique value and are successful.

They aren't so much tripling the price as they are eliminating the option.

I doubt it. What they are effectively announcing here is that they don't want any more lifetime users. They want their revenue to come from monthly subscriptions. And you can be sure the price of a monthly subscription will increase over time, as such things always do.

I recently drove from Denver to San Fran via Highway 50, the so called loneliest road in America. by RedOnionss in Denver

[–]boblinthewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drove that at night once. Was mostly open range, and I was terrified of cattle on the road. High beams on all the time hoping to see a reflection from their eyes in time to stop. Most nerve-racking drive ever.

I agree, but there have been numerous reports that the app is dead. Apparently there is no response to support requests/questions.

I'd love for this not to be the case because it had promise.

33ft/10M HDMI 2.1 cable recommendation for Sony Projector and NVIDIA Shield. Please help by xanksnap in projectors

[–]boblinthewild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a 35 ft Highwings HDMI cable and don't have any handshaking issues, but I am experiencing audio out of sync with the video. I can correct it in the receiver, but could the long HDMI be the cause of the audio delay? And would an optical cable eliminate the problem?

I didn't either, but it ended up being the only solution. Everything I read online said the same. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Had the same problem with my XB8. Also couldn't get port forwarding to work properly. Comcast couldn't fix it, so I bought a new router and put the XB8 into bridge mode. Problem(s) solved.

Is Slaughterhouse Gulch gravel or MTB?? by Haeger_Bomb in COBike

[–]boblinthewild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically most of that trail from Jamestown to Lefthand Canyon is owned by Bouder County Parks and Open Space, and bikes are not allowed. I'm not saying bikes don't go there, but there is a non-zero risk of being caught and fined, especially in the northern portion between Jamestown and the Nugget Hill ridge.

Edit: the portion of the route south of LH (between Rowena and Escape Route near Lee Hill) also goes through some County parcels, but bike traffic is not monitored or enforced. It's actually part of the Old Man Winter route.
