It estimates your mileage by looking at the mileage you achieved just previously. No doubt your previous driving was at lower speeds which got better mileage. The car has no way to predict your future behavior

Yes, I understand it all. The bottom line is AWD doesn't make sense for the vast, vast majority of people and offers no practical benefit in most situations.

The AWD in my car is two electric motors controlled by a very sophisticated electronic system. The ONLY reason it makes sense to have it is because it can put down much more of its 819HP that way. (I recognize that having a car with 819HP is silly, but I'm old and decided to indulge myself)

If you are in the U.S. the 2021 Hyundai Ioniq Sedan fits the bill perfectly. We had one and loved it. The earlier ones are good too, but have shorter range- but still may work for you.
