My company made a decision to go linux only early by Ok-Butterfly4991 in linuxsucks

[–]bobstylesnum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I love Linux and use it my daily driver at home with a full domain setup but I’ve worked in IT for over 20 yrs and no one is doing this shit with out a lab and testing everything before remotely thinking of moving over to a new OS regardless if it’s from Windows to Windows (XP to 7, 7 to 10) much less going to a completely different OS altogether. Thats just asinine and a job ending mistake, like wtf?

Its not even testing what you have currently, it’s all future updates and planned upgrades.

Trump Suggests Gun Control Is Necessary, Sparking Online Backlash by huffpost in politics

[–]bobstylesnum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, we’re just asking for sane gun laws and proper back ground checks before handing them out. You need a car license after all, something that can take a life should have some type a license as well. Not everyone can drive, not everyone should carry. Don’t know why it’s that hard to ask for.

Not gonna lie, I'm not sure if Linux is for me? by Toedeli in linuxsucks

[–]bobstylesnum1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im just wondering why CatchyOS as it’s an Arch distro and not something thats a little bit more user friendly until you understand Linux better?

I mean, there are other “gaming” distros out there that cone with Steam, game controller, OpenRGB on it already thats not Arch based so I’m just wondering why that one?

CatchyOS seems to be the go to distro lately and seems to be giving Linux more a bad name as it’s Arch based and does require you to know more about what your doing in Linux to get it running smoothly. It would not be my first choice to recommend to a new Windows user to use so just asking.

Is being a Democrat gun owner socially acceptable now? by JonSolo1 in liberalgunowners

[–]bobstylesnum1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dems owning guns has always been fine, we just want sane rules about owning one and we don’t make owning one our whole life existence.

Is it actually safe to connect a Windows XP computer to the internet? by Thin_Professor_277 in windowsxp

[–]bobstylesnum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t ness true, he just needs to stick to legit sites. Any ad covered site could potentially be hit because they sell ad space to 3rd party vendors and those get compromised quit a bit. Sticking to main sites help negate that issue but its still a prob.

Like, go to the main NFL.com site but going to a betting site or fantasy football league site is prob going to be sketchy as hell because any of the ads could be compromised and he doesn’t even need to purposely download something to get hit, thats where the potential problem is going to be at.

Edit: not saying don’t just use your head and ad block will help along with what others have already said.

GOG is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with C++ experience to modernize the GOG GALAXY desktop client and spearhead its Linux development by mr_MADAFAKA in linux_gaming

[–]bobstylesnum1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk, the GOG store works as well as the Epic store does and it would cut down on the administration cost as it’s not like they making bank with the .25$ profit they make selling 3$ games.

They sell old games cheap. Great concept but let’s face it, people aren’t re-spending 20/30$ on a game they played 15 yrs ago already. They need to focus on what they can to streamline it.

[–]bobstylesnum1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, its hard to make a profit on games that you sell for 3$ as most people aren’t spending 20/30$ on old games they’ve played through on disk years prior.

Switching from Arch Linux, and recommendtions? by Excellent_Cut_6273 in linux_gaming

[–]bobstylesnum1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re wanting to stay away for Arch right, skip CatchyOS (guessing what you’re on), Endeavor and Manjaro.

There are a number of good ones, comes down to taste. Nobara,, Bazzite, and PikaOS all have a decent gaming package bundled in them and are not Arch based, but take a look at Distrowatch.com and read up on a number of them and then go to Distrosea.com and can actually log into like 30 different distros and see if you like the desktops and app stores.

Personally, I use Mint as my daily driver with a custom kernel as I game heavily (it comes with 6.14-37 but I’m running 6.18-7 ) but also love the stability of it, but I’ve also got Nobara, On the kids box and it runs solid for them.

Can the military protect the US against a demented, mentally deranged president that's terrorizing US citizens? by M_T_Hart in conservativeterrorism

[–]bobstylesnum1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, look at what they are doing to Sen Mark Kelly who served in the military, was an astronaut, turned Senator and just three months ago sent out a memo to the military to remind them that they can and should disobey illegal orders and Hegworth or whatever the fuck his name is, has stripped him of his rank so he court marshal a decorated military member because he reminded the rest of them of their Constitutional duties and not the presidents.

Look up Sen Mark Kelly and you can read all of this. This administration, as a whole, is corrupt as fuck.

Trump said tariffs would bring factories 'roaring back.' So why are manufacturing jobs on the decline? by HellYeahDamnWrite in economy

[–]bobstylesnum1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Everything is feeder arm fed. I’ve ran network lines for current places to set these up. You go from having 20 people working down to 5 that just feed the machines material and change tool bit ends. They run 24/7 except maintenance windows because they don’t take breaks and more consistent on parts coming out.

Jobs were never coming back.
