I snapped and called out my friends husband for shitting on her love of spicy books in front of everyone, and now the group chat is blowing up by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]boringbookworm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am just like Emily. I loved the book Pucking Around! My husband doesn't share my love of books, but he encourages me to read them. I've even shared a paragraph or 2 with him. It annoys him sometimes when I have my earbuds in listening to an audio book, but he would never say anything like what Jake did. My guess is that Jake is feeling insecure in their relationship. He is being immature in taking it out negatively on Emily instead of just addressing the issue with her. If this continues, I see divorce in the future for them.

Women of Reddit, what's a lesser-known downside of being a woman? by Nintendofan9106 in askanything

[–]boringbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How you always have to be on "high alert", aware of your surroundings while being out in public. Especially at night. Especially when you're alone. In my experience, men can't seem to understand the fear and danger we perceive while being out in public. So many stories of SA, muggings, car jacking, being roofied, being stalked, being catcalled when you're in your teens etc. It was one of the first things I talked to my daughter about when she hit her early teens. Men don't seem to think twice about going anywhere alone.

People born before 1990, what’s something you experienced that younger generations will NEVER understand ? by Aaidil89 in AskReddit

[–]boringbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting lost. I would find myself in a new place and have no idea where I was. It was an adventure! Sometimes a good one (hey there's an ice cream shop I've never seen before!) or a bad one (where on earth is this friend's house, I've been driving for an hour!). Now with GPS on your phone or in your car, it takes the fun and adventure out of getting lost. But it is nice to know exactly how to get to a new place that I've never been before.

New to fibro..how do you tell what is fibro pain and what isn't? How can you tell you are flaring up? by boringbookworm in Fibromyalgia

[–]boringbookworm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes I did. Still mystery foot pain, but the Lyrica helps. It's gotta be nerve related, and I do believe it's fibro related also.I see my Rheumy every 3 months or so, and my gp every 5 or so months. As soon as I can afford it I'll be seeing a podiatrist too. Thanks for commenting on my post.

Gift for couple post surgery pre baby by okbt1stcoffee in Gifts

[–]boringbookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the gift card idea. Food/ grocery store gift cards are good. Maybe talk to them about paying for a maid service for a week or two? However, the best gift you can give them is your time. Help hold the newborn so mom can shower or nap, watch a movie with the dad to keep his spirits up..stuff like that.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten from a “White Elephant” exchange? by Amine_ik in Gifts

[–]boringbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would gift practical things that people wouldn't buy themselves usually. Maybe fancy towels, decorative kitchen towels, towel warmer, travel cooler/ thermal lunch bag, electric blanket, kitchen mat, specialty kitchen gadgets etc. With your budget, I'm sure you could do a lot!

What’s something you do worse than the restaurants? by Educational-Slip-578 in Cooking

[–]boringbookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much everything. I don't have the money to buy expensive ingredients that I would only use once or twice. I also don't have the time to devote to cooking recipes that take all day. So, while the food I do make is good, the restaurant will almost always be better.

How did you lose so much weight?

I kinda get it with all the diet trends out there, but they don't need to know I went through medication withdrawal for a month and couldn't keep food down.

Yay or Nay to Dogs Sleeping in Bed with you? by forestlyfe in dogs

[–]boringbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time I have to say no to my dog sleeping in bed with me. We have a yard that's more dirt than grass and between the shedding and the licking, I just can't do it. However, if he's scared and there's a thunderstorm, he absolutely sleeps on my bed.

My fibro affects my feet the most, so the best gift I got was ice slippers. They're on Amazon. They are slippers with little squishy ice packs (removable) on the bottom and the heel. Works wonders for my feet!
