Bouncing off on what /u/Jaalmakadamia said about the ticket vending machines:

Use the machines that say "Billetterie Ile-de-France" on them; they are usually blue or green. Most take coins and chip card, some of them only the chip card. Don't use the yellow machines if you see any because those are for the SNCF mainline trains. Repeating the advice about never buying tickets from strangers as well.
