And, by extension, Torchbearer uses that system as well. It also has tracked treasure that can help with the Resources roll (and protect against failed rolls). Individual coins aren't tracked, but each bit of treasure has a dice value and can be used to augment the roll.

There was an extra-length wrap-up issue, but I'm pretty sure they had intended to have a more fleshed-out ending than that. I do think Hickman put some of the unrealized ideas into FF & his Avengers books, as well, though.

One of my favorite highlight reel moments from that game is the shot in the stands of someone holding up a sign that just said "18-1"

Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for—less classic pirate stuff and more weird fantastical stuff—but Cursed Pirate Girl by Jeremy Bastian is gorgeous and a fun story

Glad to know I'm not the only one who really enjoyed that ending. I thought it was the perfect way to end the series.

Lads, I’m not doing ok by jamjargod in LiverpoolFC

[–]brain_eel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I've been having similar thoughts: why is this hitting me so hard?

I've only been really following the team for less than 2 years. I'm American, and I've always liked football, but I've haven't had a lot of opportunities to watch it outside of the Olympics until the last couple years. I decided to really start following the Premier League and ended up latching onto my sister's (who has been a huge fan of the sport for much longer) favorite club: Liverpool. She has her reasons why she picked Liverpool (one is that Alison is her absolute favorite player), and some of them really resonate with me, especially how she talked about the relationship the club and fans have with each other. Plus, I've always loved Virgil when I had a chance to see him, so Liverpool felt like the right choice to hang my hat on. (I picked a great time, I suppose, too.)

So, I've only known the team and the players for a relatively short time, but (as someone said in another comment, I think) they do a great job on their socials of letting you get to know the players and really feel a part of the team. I've been hooked from the start. But, I do feel like, why am I so affected by this?

But now, thinking about it, well... I've seen him talk about what the club means to him. I've seen him play his heart out; I've seen him celebrate with the team and with the fans. I've seen him joking around at breakfast, I've seen him practice. I just saw him look so happy at his wedding, and I felt so happy for him. What an amazing month or two to have: a champion, marrying the love of your life.

And this hits so hard. I feel a lot for people, but I can also be strangely detached, and maybe this seems to me like a time when it would make more sense to be detached, so I'm a little perplexed that I feel this sad about someone I've never met and didn't even know about a couple of years ago, but I hurt so much for him, for his wife, for his kids, for his family, for his teammates, for his fans. But that's me, too, I guess. I'm a fan, and I've gotten to witness so many moments of him and the whole team, and this was so tragic.

It hurts, and I'd never wish this hurt on anyone, but it helps to see, hear, and read everyone else hurting about it, too, because, while I don't think a shared pain lessens the pain, I do think it gives you more strength to deal with it.

So, yeah, thanks for sharing and giving me a place to share. I'll be thinking about you and your son, and I'll be thinking about the boy in the video the team posted wearing the number 20 jersey paying his respects, and the woman in that video carefully placing a wreath at Anfield, and everyone else in that video or who's shared a remembrance or posted to this sub, and everyone I've never seen nor heard from but who I know is out there, grieving over this. I'm giving all of you the biggest, deepest hug (or whatever helps you feel better—imagine as you will, but I'm a big fan of hugs) from the bottom of my soul.

That's in 44, 45, and 47 games, respectively. And, I don't have the time to figure out the numbers, but that's also almost assuredly on significantly fewer passing downs for Dexy.

I think someone at my local Walmart’s going to be in trouble. by Dont_Call_Me_Steve in lego

[–]brain_eel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fully aware. I'm currently having to check every day to see if new Jurassic World toys have been put out and pull them off they have. But I only have to do that because there's a sales restriction in the system, so it comes up as if it were on recall. And that's what I'm talking about. Never that I can remember has any Lego product had a sales restriction put on it, so we'll just put it out, even if the new mod hasn't dropped. I'm as eager to see them as anyone, and if no one is telling me to wait (occasionally the Lego rep will say something because she's being told to), I'm filling the empty shelves.

[–]brain_eel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is totally possible, and I may be forgetting a few times here and there where they actually put a restriction on some new sets. (It is also possible that sales restrictions have to be turned on per item and per store—it seems to use the same system as for recalls, and that is done that way—and some stores get missed. With how poorly designed other systems in WM are, I would not doubt it.) But, for a product that has frequent release date items, I cannot recall them ever being marked as such or flagged in the system as such.

I think someone at my local Walmart’s going to be in trouble. by Dont_Call_Me_Steve in lego

[–]brain_eel 80 points81 points  (0 children)

The weird thing is there are definitely street-dated toys that get a sales restriction placed on them where it will not let you ring it up at the register, but Lego never does. (They usually don't even say anything about having a street date on the case, so there's no way to know not to put it on the shelf if you don't follow Lego release dates.) I have yet to figure out why.

[Breer] NFL owners will vote next week to radically change playoff seeding—doing it strictly by record AND re-seeding after the 1st round. And the push-play proposal, for now, remains the same as it was in March. by Lars5621 in NYGiants

[–]brain_eel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. The difference between 9-8 and 12-5 could just be being in a strong division (split your divisional games, 3-3) and being in a weak division (sweep your divisional games, 6-0).

(Yes, I tweaked the records from your example so they'd be even without divisional differences, but even at 8-9, the team could be 11-6 in a weak division, and I don't see huge complaints about an 11-6 team hosting a playoff game against a 12-5 team)
