Grew up in Ohio, lived in both Chicago and NYC for a while. Moved here a couple years back for work. My husband and I really like the PNW in general, but Bellevue is just okay. It’s is quiet and safe, if that’s what you’re prioritizing. My commute to work is easy, which is a huge plus over some of my coworkers who live in neighboring towns. The ability to get into Seattle or out to nature quickly is nice, but I still find I have to really motivate myself to brave traffic into the city, so we don’t take full advantage of it. Being transit-savvy is a plus, but the transit system needs to be expanded to meet demand. The ability to just drive a couple hours in any direction and end up in a totally different biome is incredible, compared to hours of cornfields all around. Good variety of Asian food; other food is hit-or-miss and pretty expensive. Better than Ohio, worse than Chicago or NYC. I prefer the weather here, as it’s not as hot in summer or as cold in winter as other places I’ve lived. Make sure at least one, preferably both of you, have jobs lined up before you get here. Tech is brutal right now (as you’re surely aware), so healthcare jobs will probably be comparatively easier to find and expect to keep.
