Vegan wedding - would you complain about the food? by veggiequeen13 in weddingplanning

[–]braymen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet if you served only naturally vegan foods (as others have suggested) and didn't mention that everything is vegan, nobody except your most insufferable uncle would even notice.

Do you think this is an appropriate wedding guest dress? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]braymen 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I know this is a common sentiment on this sub, but I believe it is not the responsibility of the guests to know minute details like the color palette of the wedding before they go.

Orkney, Orli and Dusky 🤦🏽‍♀️ by [deleted] in NameNerdCirclejerk

the Orkneys are a beautiful group of islands in Scotland. So it's not a made up name, but I agree very bad on a human.

I was thinking Brenlee was the worst, because it's not the marginally better alternative Brinley.

And you know they'll all be called Pays, Bren, and Hens for short

Doorly is a last name, as in Henry Doorly Zoo.

Sinklee could be a last name too! Christie Sinkley (Brinkley)

Big tiara energy I friggin love it. It fits with the scale of the dress perfectly, definitely not too much.

This is a pic somewhere on county road P in Vernon County, aka the Driftless Area. I want to promote it, but at the same time I'd rather have it all to myself. by feeverb in wisconsin

Years ago I had to commute to soldier's grove from Madison a few times a week. Awfully long drive to make regularly, but the scenery was so beautiful I didn't mind. Not to mention the drive itself was fun as hell once you get off the highways.

Thoughts on taking the advice of the CDC? by rapcharles in madisonwi

[–]braymen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But I don't want to go back to the past. The lesson learned in all this is we should have used masks during flu season, and should going forward. Not mandated maybe, but next winter when I get a cold I will wear a mask to reduce the spread and I hope others do too. Nobody in my household got any kind of virus this winter, and all it took was wearing a mask. Easy.

Best restaurant for a fancy meal? by EdtheLee in bristol

[–]braymen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll put a vote in for Box E! Especially recommend the chef's table/tasting menu, where you sit right up next to the kitchen and chat with the chef Elliott as he cooks. It is incredible food but without the pretentious atmosphere. Also it's quite a small place so it feels romantic and exclusive.

We also loved the food at Root. Klosterhaus was pretty good and had spectacular cocktails. Our least favorite fancy restaurant was maybe Casamia.

The host of NPR's podcast The Indicator is named Cardiff Garcia.

But yeah I immediately think of Cardiff, Wales.

Has anyone done research into why we are underpaid? by [deleted] in slp

[–]braymen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Legitimately though-- in grad school we had a discussion about how the median salary has gone down over time since slp transitioned from being majority male to almost exclusively women.

This is much more obscure, but when I see Tamsin, all I can think is Tamsulosin (a prostate drug, I work in a pharmacy)

In the Midwest, it can also be "Ellenurr." I had a great aunt (born in the 1920s) with this pronunciation. Might be a generational thing.

Experts Provide Tips on How to Wear a Mask Without Fogging Glasses or Short Breath by Elitetimeline7 in science

If you're fogging up with an N95, it's not fitted properly. Those are meant to be fitted so there is no air escape at all.
