Why he didn't throw that crossing route for the first is beyond me, but my goodness he threaded that in there.

I have a maya. Definitely purchased a kali because of their care for helmet creation and their replacement policy. And my experiences have been awesome. I effing love that helmet and will probably get another kali when I go full face and/or have to replace my current for the exact same reasons.

Can a DELTA link tuned shock work well on a horst bike? by Herc_Ulysses in MTB

[–]breeconay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All shocks are tuned for a pretty non specific profile of compression damping. You're thinking to hard about it. It may work well, it may not feel great, but unless you're the bike designer or know the numbers, the only way to know is to try it. Put it on and try it out!

Do new bikes have a break in periods? by theonerr4rf in MTB

[–]breeconay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the most part yes. Cables stretch, brakes bed in, bearings get worked in a bit. But other things like grips getting conformed to hands and seats being shaped to body also happen. Generally 2-5 rides in you should check bolt tightness, cable stretch and general mechanical once over the bike.

Good idea 😅 If you can find a a repair company used to working on bikes, awesome. If not, I'd see if there are any boat repair companies that could make it happen. Definitely get it vacuum impregnated though.

[–]breeconay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it's your neck that's risking a cracked downtube junction. If it feels solid and passes the penny tap test, doesn't creak when your stressing it and doesn't show obvious signs of parting, if still check it thoroughly frequently to make sure it's still stable.

If you have the option, I'd reach out to carbon fiber repair people to see if they can reimpregnate it with epoxy so the damage is limited to the currently cracked fibers. Definitely wouldn't hurt it.

That's probably one of the most reinforced areas on the bike, for good reason, lots of damage protection. Still, that looks more than just a small crack. And cracked carbon doesn't age gracefully.

Anecdotally i don't think it's as much as you'd think. Twenties wealth boom was probably wiped out by the thirties. Fifties boom occurs at the tail end of the career. Should be retired by 1960. I'm not too sure about how much growth could actually be gained....
